what were the RMAF meet impressions like of these? They didn't seem to win anyone over, and I mean anyone.

I, for one, was too deterred by the man in the lab coat to develop any decent impressions.

I've skipped their booth every time. My LCD2 purchase 3-ish years ago was not... pleasant.

I didn't care for them but have never really been a fan of Audeze. First, all of their headphones weigh a f'ing ton, and that's coming from an HE-6 owner.

They have great bass and are warm as the upper mids and lower treble are shelved down compared to most headphones. Some are brighter than others, I thought the LCD4 was headed in the right direction but they don't do proper timbre and certain sounds are either too distant or not placed right in the mix. It's one of those headphones were you want to turn it up to hear those details your missing, but everything gets louder, leaving you ever wanting.

I listened to LCD-MX4 and LCD-2C. LCD-2C was surprisingly good, perhaps better than more expensive cousins. MX4 was very similar to normal LCD-4, which I really do not like that much. Then again, the problem was that show condition was just abysmal.

He is indeed creepy, but he is also quite enthusiastic.

I actually like Audeze sound, but I am just too afraid of QA issues.

Quite a detail to hold until available for pre-order, but $599 is only for the holiday season. Then it's up to $799

    ...Also no pelican case

    Thanks Audeze

Try forming a coherent question. As for the answer, no one can tell you what you will like if you haven't heard them. Since HiFi man doesn't make the HE-5 anymore you might want to check out the LCD-2c, as you can return it if you don't like it

Either way, there's nobody that can answer your hypothetical question.

    1) Basically nobody has heard the LCD-2C. Sure that should change soon.
    2) Whatever that HE-5 is, it can't be the same as the traditional HE-5. So, any traditional HE-5 impressions should be thrown out the window. This is something different...

    3) @gbeast is a smarter man then me...

You know, this whole "re-release the hits" could get interesting. Why not do it for everything. Give us non-fazor LCD3s. Re-release the Qualia 010. Bring back the original Beats Studios....wait...no, I've gotten that one wrong.

This HE-5/LCD2C pair could be a very interesting comparison.

You know, maybe it's just how I was raised but I was always under the impression that saying "f**k you" right off the bat in a close-knit group to someone trying to help me out was probably a poor way to go about things.

This is why we can't have nice hypothetical things.

The HE-5 and HE-6 should have never been discontinued IMO. They are like HiFiMan's HD600 / HD650. Failure to keep the HE-5 and HE-6 lines running were the fault of poor marketing and poor cultivation of the the HFM fanbase. Heck, you can even argue that Sennheiser did a shit job with the HD600 / HD650, that is until SBAF brought it to the forefront and Massdrop got the HD6XX going.

It's my understanding that "Fazor" also implied a new diaphragm material that was less subject to breakage compared to the LCD2r2. The Fazor waveguide thing was always semi-bullshit to me. Those who still have the LCD2r2 intact, assuming Grade B+ or higher, one standard deviation past the mean, are the lucky ones. Would be great if Audeze figured out how to use the old material and higher tension from the r2.
