I also find that tips a size larger than I usually wear work better for the Andro. I usually take a M (incl with Vegas), but L Symbios work best in these.

We just finished a limited run of CK Blue Andromedas and posted them on private page here,

    Pacific Blue CK Andromeda

These use hand polished CNC Stainless Steel spouts which are a new shiny thing for us. We might make the page public later if there are any left later next week or so.

    Cheers and happy holiday,

    Ken

I recently received my Spiral Ears 5-Way Ultimate and the fit of it has spoiled me. I went on to order a set of custom eartips for my Andromeda from AAW, which is local to me. Received them in two weeks and totally solved all my fit issues. It's made of soft acrylic and very comfortable, though it doesn't isolate as much as my CIEM. Bass is tighter, mids and highs remain about the same as spinfits. Soundstage is a little more compressed but I guess that's due to the tightness of the seal. It's not too expensive either since I'm local, priced at SGD$119, which is around USD$90. If you have a local place to do custom tips I'd highly recommend it.

Currently I'm inside a military camp with no camera access, but here's a sample photo from the AAW website: [IMG]

@KenBall thanks for the info. Been thinking about the Andromeda for some time and took the plunge. Just for lols I'm curious how these sound from the SET amp.

Please let us know, but I'm dubious. It'd have to be one helluva quiet SET amp if people are reporting hiss from sources intended for IEMs. And with the sensitivity of the Andro, I imagine you won't have much travel on the volume dial either...

As I said it's just for fun. I have used the Stratus with IEM before specifically with Heir 8.0 without any hiss. Mind you they didn't scale at all, maybe had some tube flavor but the technicalities remained the same.
I will be using it with ZX100 and I will see if I can audition the ZX300 or ZX1 to check for any improvements.

remember to set it to high gain, and preferrably using balance out when auditioning the zx300, the two settings snap it "into focus".

Yup, this. The extra power from balanced really brings out the Andros. And the zx300 is a lovely dap too. Battery for several days and excellent sound.

The ZX300 on balanced sounds great with the Andros. Pretty comparable with the ZX2 in regular SE output. It's too bad the ZX300's SE output sounds like crap in comparison to the balanced output. I wouldn't give up the convenience of having the 3.5mm plug for use with either my phone or Vita/Switch. No way I'm using an adapter on the go as well.

Ken - Great input. How would you compare the ZX300 to your 1Z with the Andros?

SE + hi gain is still way better than plain SE, imho.

i am using the Dita truth cable with swappable jacks, a much more affordable alternative is this one:-

i really think that all cable manufacturers should consider offering universal jacks but thats just me

SE + hi gain on the zx300 vs SE on the ZX2? Or just on the zx300 itself? FWIW, the difference between SE and balanced on the ZX2 was subtle with the Andros. Definitely not worth the hassle.

I only got to try the @Dr. Higgs ZX300 briefly and compared it to my ZX2.

FWIW ZX2 SE > ZX300 SE even on high gain.
