The seller is known and I don't doubt the condition of the amp. I have no idea of how good or bad the price is. That said, if I were buying I'd probably arrange for local pickup.

I would say the price is good because the amp has already been vetted by the best here and the waiting list is atrocious. I'm in my first year for the Stellaris and still have one to go.

I don't know anything about that. I saw he is banned but don't know the full story. Still that doesn't mean this is a scam but I would fly over to listen to it at this price point before making a decision and maybe shipping it myself to be sure.

That seller was banned for transaction shenanigans here. He first contacted mods and admins to complain about another member and a transaction. Then the other member sent us ALL the transcripts and it turns out he was lying by omission and also trying to get SBAF staff to moderate a dispute over a transaction at HF. After collectively wasting a dozen hours of admin and mod time here, we gave him guidance which he ignored and he not only tried to recoup his loss (we suggested they split the loss 50/50), but tried to screw a member here out of thousands of dollars through a fraudulent claim to PayPal.

The amp is probably fine and the transaction will probably go well, but I wouldn't give him my business. He played super victim and would NOT admit to any fault even when he was clearly doing something dodgy. Sellers and buyers who play victim are a huge red flag to me for ANY potential transaction. Add on it it that he's a wealthy individual who tried to screw a graduate student living off a stipend out of thousands of dollars through a fraudulent claim to PayPal and I don't trust he has a shred of honesty or decency to do the right thing if a transaction has any issues at all.

@Vansen @brencho @Marvey all had to deal with uncovering some of the bullshit and lies here.

sorry for the low effort post, didnt feel like trying to list shit on mobile but its an estate sale with an absurd amount of equipment, including some nice speakers (mirage, martin logan, etc.)

kind of odd to see so much 2 channel gear and not a single turntable among them

The deceased seems to have been a Tar Heels fan and mid-to-late 20th century audio and overstuffed-furniture "collector". I think I'll take a quick look around to be sure I'm not heading in this horrible direction. And also to see if I have too much stereo stuff or chairs.

Many people abandoned LPs for CDs over the years.

Good tunes, books and comfy chairs. I would have liked to have a cup of coffee with the bloke.

Hopefully the sale helps the family.

First time I looked, I didn't go all the way down.

There is a shelf full of albums for sale, so must have had a tt at some point.

Also some tubes and an audio research manual, but don't see any tube gear for sale.

Anyone live close enough to go? But could be dangerous lol

Anyone having the notion of driving 200 miles to check this out, I'd advise caution. Household sales aren't necessarily the "deal fest" one might expect. The internet gives people with no knowledge of what they have all the tools necessary not to give anything away. Especially if its a professional household sale company, which it is...

My favorite is the "BOSE" 801 Series 3 speakers. Those look amazingly similar to B&W 801's...

Wonder what the condition of the surrounds and such is on the speakers, especially the older ones? And seeing that anyone with this much gear (of all types, not just audio - see how many microwaves there were?) is likely a bit of a hoarder. Like the other poster I'd suggest great caution. During my foray into audio many years back I hit the classifieds/Craigslist really hard for such "deals" and wasted a good deal of time and some money. Was fun to hunt for the hidden jewels, but lots of crap out there as well, or decent stuff that has been treated like crap.
