Sounds pretty good actually. Been long enough (like 6/7 years...?) I don't feel confident saying more though.

It sure does. Please google cardioid radiation pattern and add open baffle to that. The man who designed these speakers has been doing this for a looooong time.

Great! Just goes to show how wrong "intuitive" can be!

Aren't they faux Sydney-Opera-House things? Maybe the design has some acoustic quality that scales down. Way down!

Magico A3, comes with a full aluminum cabinet, nano tube carbon fiber/graphene woofers, beryllium tweeter and elliptical crossover with mundorf parts, all for 9800$...quite a low price for a Magico speaker.
I wish Magico made a headphone, if they pulled this speaker off for 9800$, they would cause quite a stir with a headphone (as they do in the speaker world :))

Yup, new Magicos. Many people didn't expect this. Price is a surprise too.

Holy shit. Sexiest OSMTM build evaaarrr:

    Used a CNC, I believe.

Edit: should note, this person changed horizontal and vertical driver offset on the baffle. Likely throws off the response unless they adjusted the x-over as well. So, sexy w. qualifiers.

"Inhaling metallic beryllium, beryllium oxide, beryllium-copper and other alloys, or beryllium salts are the major exposure risks leading to disease (Martyny et al. 2000; Sawyer et al.2002; Willis and Florig 2002)."

Dudes, having a speaker or headphone with a solid Be driver is not the problem with Be poisoning. If you work around the milling or mining of Be or its ores or oxides, where the stuff is in the air, that's the issue. There's a reason why "audiophile" doesn't show up in the list below.

"Industries and occupations with potential beryllium exposure include
    • aerospace,
    • automotive parts,
    • computers,
    • construction trades,
    • dental supplies and prosthesis manufacture,
    • electronics,
    • industrial ceramics,
    • laboratory workers,
    • metal recycling,
    • mining of beryl ore (beryl ore extraction),
    • nuclear weapons,
    • precision machine shops,
    • smelting/foundry,
    • tool and die manufacture, and
    • welding."
If you're really worried about Be poisoning from your audio gear (unless you like to shred it up and snort it - or grate it up as another member pointed out), then whatever you do, absolutely do not look at this site - http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html.

I was visiting a friend in his woodworking shop once. He was power-planing planks of one of those teak-alike woods. You know, wood. Natural, good, harmless...

The only things that have ever made my lungs hurt so much are: breathing in some blown-back insecticide and, the worst (and most stupid), taking a sniff of the brown fumes coming from a bottle of conc. Nitric acid.

Really, that wood dust was potent and painful.

We're going way OT, but I always wear a basic mask when sanding down wood.

Leopard wood gives some people terrible skin allergies just from protracted contact, in the lungs?

Teak, Walnut, plenty of stuff can in powder form.

P.S. "All parts of a yew plant are toxic to humans with the exception of the yew berries (however, their seeds are toxic); additionally, male and monoecious yews in this genus release cytotoxic pollen, which can cause headaches, lethargy, aching joints, itching, and skin rashes; it is also a trigger for asthma.[...]

[...]Symptoms of yew poisoning include an accelerated heart rate, muscle tremors, convulsions, collapse, difficulty breathing, circulation impairment and eventually cardiac arrest. However, there may be no symptoms, and if poisoning remains undetected death may occur within hours."

Took a trip to Dynamic Audio 5555 in Tokyo today. Many speakers and headphones, very expensive compared to prices in the US, but great to listen and see things in person.

Dang, the term porn definitely applies here, for the massive amounts of machined metal if nothing else.

Also, that's one way of making sure your speakers cannot be stolen, I guess ...

I'd love to get my ears on those. Nice!

I heard these little guys (ADS L9E) at a local shop, and they had a wonderful tone, with, for the size, some good meat down low.
