There's almost nothing more representative of "speaker porn" than a Raidho magnet system, here're some obligatory pics and copy/pasted description:

"The Raidho Ceramix Magnet system: No Driver is better than the magnet motor, yet magnet systems have hardly changed in the last 50 years or so. To Raidho neodymium magnets has completely changed the possibilities of making a more compact and acoustically ventilated (transparent) magnet system. The Raidho magnet system consists of two rows on neodymium magnets placed in a push-pull configuration. Apart from creating a very controllable flux in the magnet gab. The configuration creates a very open structure, where the rear side of the membrane is subjected to very little mirror effect from the faceplate of the magnet structure. One must realize that sound is transmitted from both sides of the membrane and that a solid thick face plate acts like a mirror bouncing sound right back at the membrane again. Measurements on soft membranes like paper and PP indicates that this mirror signal is only damped by app 8-10 dB compared to the original signal, by the ceramic membrane the damping is much higher and appears more in the nature of compression as partial membrane movements is not possible on a piston type driver. The patented Raidho magnet system allows air to move more freely and generates far less compression than any other magnet system on the market. The sound improvement going from a traditionally built magnet system to the Raidho magnet system is huge."

From 700hz and up, this is probably the best speaker ever made (frequencies under 700hz were handled by a 5 inch midrange and a 12 inch woofer)...the Hill Plasmatronics Type 1!

What's so special above 700hz? Easy answer!
The sound is generated by a plasma, a glow discharge to be exact. Acapella, Ionovac and Lansche tweeters are corona discharge, so even if you want some plasma goodness, it won't be as good sounding as a glow discharge. No moving parts, the "driver" is 5 times lighter than air due to the use of helium.

Toxic? That would be true if it were electrically driven plasma, but this uses gas, helium to be exact, so is not toxic.
Here's a pic of the back, you can see the massive helium bottle, which must be replaced after 300 hours of use:

However, an unknown hero thought: "plasma is cool but woofers suck dong, hold my beer"
Are you ready for the Final Boss of the internet?

"Other attempts to enhance the plasma tweeter have been made as well. One member has mated his Plasmatronics equipment to an Apogee ribbon based low end, augmented with a pair of Eminent Technology TRW-17 subwoofer systems"

Yup, you're reading right, our hero also tought: "but ribbon sub bass sucks dong, hold my beer" and added two (yes, two) of this marvels:
Our hero also has 6 Krell amps and runs the system in active configuration, cuz he probably tought: "passive sucks dong, hold my beer"
I would change the Krell for pure Class A Accuphase, the ribbons for the new ones that Graz (Apogee owner) is selling now (much improved over the originals) and use a Pass Labs XVR1 as a crossover if I could, but I can't :D:D:D

    All hail PlasmAPogees!!!

Vivid Audio K1. Looks like a design speaker but it's a serious piece of kit. Lawrence Dicke knows what he's doing.

I almost got to hear Plasmatronics speakers. The son of the owner a High-End stereo store took a liking to me and got to where he would let me listen to stuff we both knew I wasn't going to buy. The speakers were in their own room and he had some guys getting the system ready for me to audition. Long story short, they could not get the speakers working correctly. They quit carrying them shortly after.

I was disappointed. I was really curious to hear how they sounded.

Wow a rotary subwoofer... for when you (literally) want your breath taken away... five times a second.

These BeoLab 3 speakers are actually a lot better than people give them credit for. They were pretty expensive when new and I believe they can only be used with B&O equipment and connectors. Which is a real shame because it would have been interesting to hook them up to a 200W SS amp and see what happens. But that's not how they work, they have an inbuilt 125W class-D amp I believe. But they make a very nice discreet living room speaker with performance that is a lot bigger than you'd think. Someone should steal the design and make a "real" speaker out of it...

Very cool, I just saw a Facebook post by Blumenstein saying they make a set of speakers using these. I'm afraid to ask how much...

Those DC10A's sounded really great, even crammed in a corner behind the rows of Harbeths and with the sales guy occasionally talking on the phone behind me. Soundstage size wasn't great, I'm guessing due to placement, but imaging and instrument placement/separation were very clear, with a natural timbre. Would've liked to hear them with the EAR amp sitting there, but they were being driven by the Mac integrated, guess dancing blue VU's are good for sales.

I worked for an ADS dealer in the 90s but never got to hear the home line because we either stopped carrying it years before by choice or they had ceased importing to the US. The car stereo speaker line was amazing. Silky smooth, yet detail and they imaged like good home speakers. They were pricey, but I’d buy them today if they were available.

I present to you, the most insane speakers I have ever seen.

Tidal La Assoluta speakers. $500k/pair. These might have the highest quality transducers on any speakers you can find.

1.2" Accuton diamond tweeters - (the 0.75" ones can be bought on Madisound for about $4,000/pair).

2 x 5.4" Accuton diamond woofers (I've heard BOM on these is anywhere from 20-30k per driver).

Diamond woofers? Daaamn. Based on the setting I hope it comes with a Baroque style living room.

Looks like she thinks there is something good on top of that speaker.

Wealthy older men do often take TRT, HGH, or other testosterone increasing treatments, so shrinkage is inevitable anyway for those with the money, and searching for fountain of youth ;)
