I speculate that the currently shipping units have the upgrade in them, at the current price, and in 12 hours Jason announces an upgrade including price jump. Probably not much, maybe $100-$200 which is why they arent too worried about shipping upgraded units at the old price for the next 12 hours. Again, purely speculation.

That, would be the most logical thing. Fingers crossed.

Something tells me there was a schiit ton of Fullas sold during the holidays. And with it brings the mislead with stars in their eyes.

    A necessary evil product though.

Mike mentioned in his post on ad-Fi that the Yggdrasil could include a gadget in the future, so maybe that is the announcement?

Praying for a revamp upgrade board that allows for balanced output into 600ohm amp... I'll buy a Yggdrasil so fast...

That's very patronising. They have been far from perfect.

The Fulla 2 did have some issues. An initial batch had a hardware issue which stopped it working on mobile devices for some reason*. It took me ages to get people to stop assuming that I had an Android device that didn't talk UAC (despite most of them doing so, and me specifying ones which do- Nexus and Pixel-class devices working fine with other USB DACs). It wasn't until I pointed out that it also didn't work on a current-gen iPad that people took it seriously. Luckily Jason is a smart cookie, tracking the issue down fairly quickly.

Worse yet, a bunch of Fulla-2 were slightly mis-assembled, and you couldn't get micro-USB in/out without mangling the connector. Again, talking about this lead to attempts to blame the type of cable used, hilariously. The fix for this turned out to be to unscrew the case, and re-align the metal parts with a micro-USB connector inserted, and re-tighten the screws. An easy fix, but maybe not obvious.

Anyway, if you dodged a bullet with the first batch, and got a properly assembled unit (or knew how to do the easy 30 second fix yourself), Fulla 2 turned out to be exceptionally hard to beat at the price. It drives headphones pretty well for a 500mA device, and the in/out options make it way more useful than you'd expect. However, it has been the most troublesome Schiit purchase to date, for some.

It doesn't mean that I don't recommend it to people looking to inexpensively upgrade the sound from their laptop, mind. Nothing at that price comes close.

(Upgrading my Gungnir Multibit to Gen 5 was a lot less hassle. Bloody brilliant bit of kit for the money, that.)

*Something to do with mis-reporting power needed from the host, as I recall.

    You mean patronizing?

I am sorry if it came out that way. I was unaware of the mulitude of issues with the Fulla 2. I was only going by Mike's comments of dealing with difficult customers. Sounds like they are very aware of customer's sentiments at the moment. That does sound like a bit of a nightmare. It is always funny to me that the lower cost the item, the more demanding the customers are.

And my necessary evil comment was about the Fulla 2 product in general in it being the low cost entry level product for Schiit. It is the product to get people in the door to your other products. It is the free "crack" if you will. And 500ma is nothing to scoff at. It is about half power of the O2, and that is all most people need. It is an incredible value for a DAC with AK4490 and that kind of clean Schiit power all while running off of USB. I don't have one, but I bet it is far and above most laptop outputs.

    No.

Incidentally, 500mA to power the entire thing*, DAC and amp, is piss-all. The fact that it manages to output very close to that and drive stubborn dynamics reasonably well is testament to careful design.

*Which is all it's allowed to draw, as per spec.

Maybe, but I have serious doubts as I didn't think the gadget was this close to prime-time yet based on other comments from he and Jason. But who knows...we'll find out soon I suppose!

From Yggdrasil's product page: "Now in Analog 2 form (shipping since late 2017), we’ve combined the output of four of these DACs with DC-coupled, low-noise, Class A JFET buffers and summers with high current output capability to drive long cable runs and low-impedance line inputs, such as 600 ohm professional gear."

    Wow....I just looked 2 minutes ago...price was the same...now $100 more!;)

I don't have any "long Cable runs" to concern myself with so I'm not sure what this means to the average Yggdrasil owner...??

I thought you meant this spec:

Maximum Power, 16 Ohms: 550mW RMS per channel

As per the Fulla 2 spec sheet.

    It also says:

    Power Consumption: 0.8W typical
