I hadn't thought about it like this and this explains everything. Thanks.

Plus, I'm a big unabashed Yggdrasil fanboy. I just worked around this issue for a few years instead of giving the dac up.

Got my email yesterday. Total time in queue was ~6 weeks with start time of Jan 16. (same day upgrade was available for order)

Time to dig the original boxes out of storage and send Yggdrasil A135 in for a well deserved 4 year anniversary upgrade.

    Hey Chris F,

I see you're from YOW. Can you let me know which carrier you plan to use to ship your Yggdrasil and what the cost is?

That is a very impressive review. To go neck and neck again that Hegel is a high compliment indeed. And based on how much I listen to and appreciate vinyl it is good to know the Yggdrasil is more analog in sound than other DACs. Also a high complement. I am now even more glad that I have a new Yggdrasil on order. It will be displacing a Bifrost Multibit and paired with my Ragnarok.

Yggdrasil balanced output measures slightly better but not enough for me to obsess. Ygg2 feeds my Zana Deux SE unbalanced just fine as does the Gungnir MB and Auralec Vega.

I am going out of my Bifrost Multibit single ended into my Ragnarok. When I get the Yggdrasil and go balanced into my Ranarok will the signal be stronger? I read somewhere that the balanced input is a stronger signal.

More than you probably want to know but this is a definitive answer by a colleague of mine. Mike Rivers has been around pro audio for many many years.

Even if it were, no one would tell you here in public without Schiit's permission. If it hasn't been officially announced, either it doesn't exist or the press embargo is still up. The only way to tell at this point would be to take a recently purchased Gungnir Multibit apart and see if there are any internal differences from an older Gungnir Multibit (which, too, should be taken apart). Good luck with that, amigo.

The only official info we have at this point is that there will be an announcement from Schiit for a couple new products soon.

I can't imagine why the original Yggdrasil Analog Out was anything other than class A -low level signal amplification is typically class A.

No sure what you meant by that, but may I suggest a premium AC power re-gen, to power your digital.

Already tried this with an avionics grade power system running at the superior 400Hz AC. Didn't make the Yggdrasil (1) better than my vinyl rig, or even better than some mods on the output stage circuit.

FWIW, Yggdrasil A2 (2) does get closer to vinyl. Close enough that I came back to digital. Still not there yet.

That is good to know. I have a great deal of music that I love that is only on digital. For example most new classical music recordings only come out on digital. Deutsche Grammophon is one of the recent few exceptions with new vinyl releases. My vinyl rig on comparable recordings almost always sounds better than my Bifrost Multibit. In fact getting the vinyl rig last summer is the key reason why I recently ordered the Yggdrasil. Need to close the gap. I am really hoping the Yggdrasil does so. These Hagen lute sonatas are a great example of music that I just love that I can find no vinyl for. Bernhard Hagen was the last great lute composer:

I would also add that getting the Cambridge CXC dedicated optical transport was also a significant improvement to my digital rig.

Did you try powering the Yggdrasil A2 with a Crown amp fed by a 60 Hz signal from the Gungnir Multibit?
