Last night I took some links out of the bracelet to make the watch fit. A bit of a hassle but okay.

That Seiko bracelet mechanism is like a double lock on your wrist. It is counter intuitive and I really cannot stand it. The watch is secure, fine. Taking the watch off is simply to complicated.

I was curious, so went on a quick hunt, diving watches, ISO requirements. Nope, couldn't find anything definitive on strap requirements, so maybe Seiko just over engineered the clasp.

p.s. The only thing I did read of interest is that some diver oriented metal straps are designed to accept an optional extension, so that you can increase the bracelet circumference when worn over a wet suit.

Good watch, an even better watch with the right strap...

I could not resist. That blue dial, those numerals and the fact that it looks like an artsy dress watch built as a dive watch.

The retail price, totally worth it...

Work has started 42 million dollar clock built into the heart of a motherfucking mountain.

The clock is designed to keep time for ten thousand years.

So my Seiko 5 went from gaining about a minute a day to now being behind.

I was about to get a watch spanner from eBay so I can crack this thing open and nudge that little lever + / - , but I figured I needed to track it better to see where it is at.

Although I have been home sick the past few days. I wonder if the non-movement that the auto-wind spring is not wound up as much.

The 7s26 movement is a workhorse but not the best workhorse anymore. I skipped the SKX-series because of that movement. Get a solar dive watch from Seiko for better accuracy.

Oh yes I still wear my small Seiko 5. It is a good beater watch and it has its charm. Just do not expect the best accuracy from that movement...

If it fluctuates further, it could just be magnetized. You can probably look into that as well...

I want a NOMOS, and a Moonwatch or Aqua Terra 150 but currently fine with my basic seiko skx. Price no object though, I want one of those minute repeaters.

I heard about this awhile back. Supposed to be a combo of solar and mechanical timing.

Just forwent some gear upgrades and instead used the money on a new watch and new leather straps for my daily beaters. Can’t wait to post the pictures.

This watch hobby is getting out of hand. I am falling in love with Swatch. I adore the new Sistem 51 watches but I already have an automatic watch on the way.

Well I checked out if there still were some Swatch Solar watches in decent condition. Quartz and solar are such a great combination. I bought one similar to this. Swatch is such a fun company (emphasis on brand is unfair in my opinion, as Swatch actually does know its roots and does not heavily rely on marketing).

    Oh shit, it's Baselworld2018!

This is the largest watch show of the year (and, with SIHH, which happened in late Jan, one of the two most important).

This is a new stainless steel Rolex GMT, just announced this morning. It look like ones from the 70's/80's, but new movement and entirely re-engineered, because that's what Rolex does. Anyway, look at all the new Omegas that also came out this morning!

    https://www.hodinkee.com/packages/baselworld-2018
This link will show more and more articles for the next 5 days, as they get to different brands.

And here is what went down for SIHH2018
    https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/sihh-2018-complete-guide-to-watches

Most of these watches are for upper-tier brands, or at least they are pretty darn expensive. Think of it as fuel for dreams or a possible grail watch.

The new Tudor releases are also stunning. Both the Rolex and Tudor GMT are so pretty.

My grail watch is at least 2 to 5 years away unless I hit the jackpot. Good thing Seiko makes such good value-for-money watches...

For most folks, I think saving up for a Rolex (or a Tudor or Omega) really makes for a great One Nice Watch to Go Everywhere and Do Everything.

Seikos are great, anyone who knows watches respects a Seiko. And for saving up, a Grand Seiko (it's own line) is up there with Rolex and Omega.

Just impulse bought a Hamilton Valiant at JomaShop for $380 after a $20 promo code for giving them my email address.

Here is an old Seiko I inherited from my dad

    2370845F-881B-4F63-B99B-17F7B3C0169F.jpeg

The watch face was broken so I had it fixed. I think the inside got scratched a little during the repair which cheeses me a bit. Still works great!

Huge Seiko fan. The Grand Seiko snowflake below is my realistic dream watch.

Another thing I noticed is that Seiko seems to be the Schiit of watches. Prices at every tier, from entry level to high end. Anyone else recommend any other “budget” brands?

Orient is also quite popular and gets good reviews.
