Right, don't think this is so much a hazing as it is a thorough drubbing. Or a lynching even. Or a David Lynch-inspired thrashing, whatever.

The skepticism is understandable, and I do lean towards that side myself, but for what it's worth I do hope people in the area get to meet up with BIG POPPA and evaluate his schiit (non-uppercase "s") for themselves, if it suits them. Proof in the eating of the pudding and all that, though whether pure gold leaf on it has any effect on the flavour is debatable.

Also, @BIG POPPA, really hope you don't mind the, er, welcoming you're getting. Cats do occasionally bite, but that's when you get them to lower their guard with kibble, shiny toys, and cardboard boxes they get to tear to shreds (NOT unsubstantiated claims or component nervosa taken to extremes).

    Cheers!

It's not skepticism. Heck, I too roll cables and play with vibration damping and massloading. The mods I have suggested for the HD650 and many other headphones rely on these ideas. The speakers I've built rely on these ideas.

I'm just not enough of an asshole to call it metallurgy because I actually respect the HARD work behind materials science - the scientists, the engineers. Audio tweaks and shit is EASY, and I'm not going to self-aggandize it to something that is actually difficult.

    Again, wizardry is fine.

Given the empirical nature of the experimentation I would suggest cable and connector alchemy is a more appropriate phrase.

    You
You are so nice, Thank You.
The difference is I am able to do this at meets and gatherings. You may have some lippy arm chair quarterbacks saying it is placebo. But there are peeps like me who get the people together to see what works or doesn’t. My goal is to squeeze every once of performance by any means possible effectively out of the gear.

I think that most activities that get people in the audio world together are good. I mean, activities that get us together irl. Without shared auditory experiences it's hard to communicate meaning in discussions of sound. Besides, there are some cool people in this hobby.

It's not what you do that some people have a problem with. I think it's great you do these things.

But on this forum people have a problem with vague. We have a problem with snake oil. We very much prefer factual information. We have a problem with noise, and those who don't meaningfully contribute to a conversation.

You have been vague. You've mentioned things some of us consider to be snake oil. You've given no factual information. You haven't meaningfully contributed to conversations. This is why you're getting the welcome you are getting.

I don't like to be the one to point this out. I think everything I've said should be blatantly obvious, and shouldn't need to be said. But I don't like piling on, deservedly so or not, especially if one seems like they could meaningfully be part of the community.

So try. Try to meaningfully contribute. It can be very hard at first. We understand that. Just try.

Obviously I just don't think any of is have much to contribute to the OP's question, simply because that idea is foreign to most of us. He is having to explain himself what he is after.

Maybe we do it in a small capacity, but not so much as a wholistic approach.

I don't even know where to begin to answer the question, other than,if you want to tweak a DAC, go DIY. D/S chips give you most of the documentation you need. If you want to change out components and tweak built gear, building yourself seems the next step.

It is a bit of a battle. Can just rattle this off. Go molecular on whatever. With a few friends like JJ I can just speak my thoughts and it is speaking to the choir as he put it. I explain a rig like an orchestra or a battalion, pick your poison.
