Up for grabs. $500 SE version. It would cost Bill $100 more, but with the current state of the head office, it would be faster to receive and then Bill would have 2 versions, and could always upgrade later the second version if need be. (and wouldn't be out a DAC while it's being upgraded)

What about upgrading a V2+ to a Pro? Or is that not being offered anymore?

Sorry for being so impatient with this but... any update? It has irked me enough the past few months.

Even if there isn't a fix, I'd still prefer to have firmware 1.5 on mine just for the more fine-grain control. So please let me know if you have any word on this. It's the no.1 (and only) thing I can complain about my GO2A now.

No problem. I'm still waiting on word regarding this. I'll update as soon as I hear back. I think others have reverted back to 1.5....may want to ask here or around Head-Fi in the meantime.

I did a search and I have looked at pages of Head-fi since your last response, but found nothing relating to that so perhaps you were confused by the old line? (GO450/720/1000)

I know the old Geek Out series had firmware 1v5, and also the firmware updates were readily available and we could revert to them, but I don't think there's any installer/updater for the 1.5 firmware for the new 2 series.

I've been waiting for an email for 6 months for the same issue...

Have you tried the existing updater with the 1.5 image? I've seen some evidence of it working on Head-Fi but not been brave/stupid enough to upgrade my GOXXs just to see. I have always preferred the 1.5 functionality and better control.

I owned a GO450 for 2 years without issue and have owned a GO V2A for almost a year now without issue.

You might want to submit that to the Guinness Book of World Records.

I've had 4 GOXX devices over the last several years, and only lost one because I bricked it myself. The resin GOV2s had shit cases to be sure, but the GO2A cases are slick. I am repeatedly impressed by my GO2A and to be honest have a hard time thinking I'd get that much more out of a Schiit stack at my desk short of $500.

My impression is not that GO products are more prone to failure than average, just that if they do fail you're f#cked.

To copy from my post I made a long while ago.

"My Geek Out V2 fell apart physically. LH Labs replaced it (after a good while of waiting.) The replacement developed all sorts of problems so I sent it back to be fixed. 9 months later I still hadn’t received it back, so I sent them a very strongly worded email. They decided to send me a Geek Out 2A as a replacement. It arrived 2 odd months later. Almost a year of waiting. "

Buy from LH Labs with the thought of "this piece of gear will be good till it dies, and when it dies I'm fucked and will have to buy a new one, or buy from another company."

    So, update on this.

I dug a little deeper on Head-fi and found firmware files for 1.5 for Standard and Infinity versions of the GO2A.

Proceeded to try and flash 1.5 on my GO2A Inf but no dice. Device just powered off and then on and again. Read Head-fi again to make absolutely sure I was not missing anything and I'm guessing somebody was wording things very confusingly.

Yes, you can seemingly downgrade/upgrade firmwares on the GO2Pro.

No, it doesn't seem like anyone has ever had any success downgrading firmwares on GO2A, although upgrading works just fine.

Also, I got my GO2A SE now and it came with firmware 2.00 that has the weird volume down bug (pauses all sounds momentarily before it makes the adjustment), so on top of the inconvenience of the vol control scheme of 2.1, it's even a bit worse.

So please, @LHCommSquad, if you can't get anyone to work on firmware downgrading, can you at least send me firmware 2.1 for Signature Edition?

Yeah, actually, never mind. Some kind members were able to send me the file. Thanks, guys!

So what happened next was somewhat unbelievable. I proceeded to upgrade the firmware from 2.00 to 2.1 and...

...well, it just failed to upgrade (unable to write error), so I thought "no biggie." Reconnected the GO2A SE back in and...

...it showed up as firmware 1.5.

Well, I'm not even going to speculate on what happened or try to do more. Firmware 1.5 on GO2A SE is perfect for me.

And it does come with 1.5 behaviors: one button to change filter, one to change gain, and volume control via my Mac instead of the buttons.

Edit: oh, and also, I guess that confirms that firmware downgrading does work after all (huh...), though I have no idea what happened.

So it does flash the downgrade but doesn't finalize, then the 'upgrade' craps out on write but finalizes the prior one. Go figure!
