Emailed my 2 week impressions. Some of the complaints are regarding the interface and being mostly HP focused.

    Cheers

iOS user here. Last.fm scrobbling would be a nice feature if the app is going to be a standalone player.

Any way to have this work using Bluetooth and not a headphone jack?

EDIT: I just restarted the app and it worked over Bluetooth :)

Since the desktop version of True-Fi is already the most troublesome piece of software I have EVER owned, no way I want it on my android devices.

Troublesome? I think it's really simple (the desktop version), i mean how can something with half a dozen of options be "troublesome"? Am I missing something?

The WASAPI output device included with the program limits one to only one bitrate output, which is predetermined by how you set the bitrate in windows for your output. For example, one must set a bitrate in windows for , in my case, either my optical output (realtek) or the C-media drivers for my Gungnir Multibit for usb, AND the sonarworks program, which is then limited to the bitrate chosen previously for Windows or c-media drivers. The result is that I must use that same bitrate, and ONLY that bitrate in jmrc, forcing resampling up or down of any bitrate not the one chosen in windows and true-fi. And all these parameters have to be reset every time the computer is awakened from sleep or turned off and back on.

To play all of my music at it's native bitrate, I have to use the direct sound option included with true-fi, which is not a direct connection like WASAPI. One of the updates issued failed repeatedly when trying to delete the older version, and it took them about 4 days to send out some kind of update to make it function properly, I couldn't even go back to any of the other drivers (windows, c-media) until they did this, so couldn't play music at all.

I never could get true-fi to install on one of my pcs, to this day. Finally an update from two days ago, 1.0.649, doesn't function at all on one of my main pcs, but works on the other, but only with the limitations set forth above. As I said, troublesome. Everytime they send out another update, I have to cross my fingers and sacrifice a small animal, and sometimes it still doesn't work.

I've had no problems with True-Fi on my iMac, works great esp with HD800 and HD600. Waiting for the iOS app - I have a bunch of headphones that are listed that I use mobile.

I should make clear, when it works properly, I really like the sound quality when used with all of my supported headphones (hd600, hd650, [xx in my case] and k553 pro), but it is sometimes so hard (or impossible ) to get to work properly that I often wonder if it is worth the hassle, especially now that it only works on 1/3 of my pcs. Support has been less than stellar too.

And now, true-fi does not work on any pc or any dac via usb. At all. On any settings. What a crap product. Worst $60.00 I have ever spent in audio.

Just now heard of the mobile app, downloaded it snappish and got the X00 preset.

I mean, technically I've got the X00EB, but should be close enough (shrug). Would be happy to share impressions re: sound and user experience if you're still taking newb-ish opinions, @Hrodulf ? :p

@Senorx12562: Yowza. How long have you been experiencing this? Tempted to try the PC version as well, but given the price and the fact that it runs a bit spottily, kinda concerned.

I have 0 problems other than what I reported to them (2), which are minor. So i am pretty happy with it overall, although I prefer to use the hd600 preset with my hd800, which is odd to say the least.

If this is the worst u have spend in audio you are in luck because it could've been more expensive but out of luck since you can not sell your product. I had have pricier bad experiences.

@Lyer25 on beta I had it through 3pcs, 1 w10 and 2 w8.1, all without connection problems with different DACs and with/without Eitr.

    Hi,
I use PC version for over a month and mobile for couple of days. With PC version I have similar problems to Senorx. It sometimes works with my external DAC (Chord Mojo) and sometimes doesn't. If it doesn't work I have to open soft manager (ctrl alt del) and force tru-fi process to close. Classic solution to simply close the app by clicking 'quit' in an app tray doesn't work. Last update doesn't work at all and I had to rollback to previous one. Beside this issues I like what it does with sound. Regarding mobile it's beta version so I'm not worrying about the layout and user experience (I hope it will be improved especially integration with Spotify). But there is one thing that I find amazing - the 'more quality' option. I can hear now that my phone+ chord mojo is on a different level with this option set to 'on'.

I discovered that my problems with the recent update were because of a new option in the settings for "exclusive mode." After I installed the update, this mode was enabled, and totally f'ed up the sound. Unchecking the box for this mode made the update play normally again. It is however still very cumbersome to switch between the True-Fi software and the drivers for my dacs and vice-versa, and the WASAPI option will only output one bitrate at a time (the one chosen for your dac in the manage audio devices submenu of the control panel.) If I try to have jrmc23 play all bitrates in my library natively, I get an error message and no playback on any bitrate not that chosen in the control panel. The direct sound option seems to have no such limitation, but of course then I believe Windows gets more involved than I would prefer. First world problem I guess. I do think sound-wise it does good things pretty simply though.
