Thank you for those great impressions! They pretty closely match mine.

A few week ago I was able to compare **the new "Abyss AB-1266 Phi" with Susva, thanks to member "Cradon".

I was extremely impressed with the phi ...

It made me notice its amazing clean bass first,

But more importantly, I noticed midrange details that I did not noticed at first on the Susvara.
On second pass with the Susvara, I was able to pick out the same nuances but with a different presentation which was more centered on the upper spectrum.
The Phi is a bit tamed in the upper spectrum, and centered more in the mids and bass.
It's presentation was about 8ft closer than the Susvara, and overall, it was the more enjoyable can.

Its tonality was more conducive to musicality and immersion.
Sonic image was both taller and larger than Susvara.

Bottom line, the Phi was more musical and involving with even greater sense of nuance over the mid-range, which is saying alot because before this encounter I was of the opinion that the Susvara was the most optimal signature and sound ,
But the Phi showed it was better in those attributes,
Plus the fact that it has , to me, the best bass I ever heard
Such command and nuance at same time.
Definitely a head boppn can on first listen.

The Phi being very good with normal amps,
    due to having good sensitivity,
While just outclassing everything else, to me,
proves it is just a winner all around...

The slightly south(darker) of neutral signature equates to longer listening sessions without treble fatigue,
and it's cumbersome looking headband was actually not heavy or uncomfortable on my head.

Here are my unqualified measurements from my own measurement gear still in refinement to get closer to SBAF parameters in trebles:
    Abyss FR.jpg
    Abyss CSD.jpg
So take with a grain of salt, as they were made in small reflective room so upper end CSD may be revealing it.
Even so, it looks excellent, but more importantly,
The Phi is the real deal, a truly exceptional sounding headphone.

Cultural Appropriation Alert, if you’re sensitive to such, you may wish to avert your eyes.

I was trying to figure out a way to make the Abyss more stable on my head, particularly when I’m listening in bed. It dawned on me that if I could create a broader weight distribution, and “head grip” beyond the leather headband I might achieve the stability and added comfort I’m seeking.

I thought about sacrificing one of my baseball caps, removing the bill and attaching the “skull cap” to the Abyss’s leather band. Then I had an epiphany, what about a Yarmulke? So I ordered a nice knit one and attached it to the leather headband with a bobby-pin, and damn, it works wonderfully!

I’d post pictures, but I, being the Rando’s Rando, can’t figure out how to post them.

Either put them on imgur and link them (easier on the servers here) or do you not see an upload a file button?

After hitting that and picking a file they'll be the option to select thumbnail or full image.

    Edit:
Might as well contribute some eye candy. This is from another post of mine with Phi and some other nice cans:

Okay, a picture of my newly stabilized Abyss, yes I’m guilty of cultural appropriation and incredibly bad taste, but hey it works.

Well, damn, thought I figured it out, you’ll just have to imagine a black and white Yamaka clipped to an Abyss;).

Looks like a pair of ADX5000s to your right. Did you get a chance to listen to them too?

Indeed we did. My girlfriend classified them as "screechy" in the highs and i am pretty sure that was because they were also connect to the XiAudio amp when she tried them. The other amp i will try to get a glimpse of it on one of the pics because i don't recognize it and don't remember it to be honest, my bad.

They had an impressive amount of detail on them and boy were they very balanced tone-wise, clear and the bass sounded just right to me, but be aware i am bass sensitive so maybe it can be a bit shy for some of you. They were particular good when listening to old rock, the beating of the drums was excelent. Unfortunately these were the ones that i had the less time with and only listened to 4 half tracks.

I wish i had more time to be more precise about my thoughts on them so i would resume it like this:

    Pros

    Tonal balance
    Detail
    Clarity
    Imaging
Very good bass in both quality and quantity(for me)

Cons (more "less positive" then "negative")

    Soundstage is good, not great
Bass quantity (not quality) may not satisfy most users.

    Negative

One of the 2 amps (Xi Audio) made it sound screechy and not pleasant.

You are talking about the ADX5000 correct? How was your experience with Abyss?
