I'm u.k based and have been trying to get hold off a u.k yggdasril for on and off for about 6 months now.

The reason for this is I've been wanting a u.k based warranty from electromod. They are very friendly and very quick to answer my emails but I have never seen it in stock and nor do they know when they will get more in.

Have all you guys been purchasing them from America? How has the support been if it breaks? And what is the extra cost of all the duties and taxes untop? as it's tricky to work out.

    Many thanks

I bought my Yggdrasil directly from Schiit. After VAT, customs duty and shipping, the cost worked out higher (a bit) than buying from Electromod. The real issue however is if something goes wrong, as you will be out of pocket a considerable amount for return to USA with insurance.

Why don't you call Electromod and discuss it with them, as you might then get a straight answer.

I would contact Sonority Audio in the Netherlands aka Schiit Europe as they offer good service EU wide. I bought my Yggdrasil and Rag from them and they shipped to UK with no issues. Warranty was upheld when needed and they shipped the Rag to US as Schiit central was needed for repair. Another big factor that favours EU distributor is that the warranty is for 5 years rather than 3 years as provided by Electromod.

I am not sure why Schiit EU cannot deliver to UK anymore. Probably a matter of internal agreement as to distributor territory.

@Muse Wanderer - I don't think Sonority ship to the UK any more- I assume Electromod have been asserting their exclusivity deal somewhat. I ran across this when I had to wait ages to buy a Gungnir Multibit- I even considered ordering one from Sonority and sending it to my inlaws in Denmark.

It's annoying, as Electromod generally have a lot less stock a lot later than Sonority, it puts UK buyers at a distinct disadvantage. Exclusivity deals are seldom good for consumers.

I have ended up buying some stuff directly from @schiit themselves, as their mail order is pretty solid and nice to deal with. That said, I know a good few people who aren't prepared to do that, as they worry about warranty shipping and so forth- they generally ended up getting another brand, as they couldn't get what they wanted in the UK.

Havent seen Yggdrasil stocked in months anywhere in Europe. There is probably a huge order backlog ongoing (confirmed at least with Sonority few weeks ago) and therefore not expecting things to improve anytime soon.

@schiit can comment further I am sure.

P.S.: Due to the above, I bought Metrum Onyx instead. Shipping the DAC across the planet anytime it malfunctions or receives upgrades I consider too bothersome to consider ordering from US.

Ask to get on the waiting lists at both Sonority Audio (schiit-europe.com) and Electromod (schiit.eu.com) and they'll typically email you when things are back in stock. Very limited supply but I got my Yggy2 from Electromod about 2 months ago, very nice folks.

Precisely zero availability of Yggdrasil 2 in Australia at any point since January. I guess they are churning out the new boards as fast as they can make them and prefer to prioritise domestic customers.

Has anyone had an upgrade done with either of the European distributors? I signed for notifications for when the upgrade would be in stock, but haven't heard anything.
