Haha, I want the Hellcat version of it. The Trackhawk. 0-60 in 3.5s.

It's like the poor man's Cayenne. The Charger is like the poor man's Panamera.

If you were happy with the BRZ and just need to fit kids into it, isnt an WRX/WRX STi the answer?

Also, with a bit of European vibe, have you consider VW Golf R (proud owner here).

Definitely considered it (and still in consideration), however:
    1. Not V8 / not enough displacement.
    2. Latest WRX is ugly, unless you slam it, which I will do not because of the crap quality of El Lay streets and steep ramps into many parking lots.
    3. Yeah, it has a turbo, but turbo lag.
I should test drive the Golf R.

Sure, if you don't really care about the likelihood of a voided warranty should something go wrong down the road. According to who you believe, dealerships have the means to detect whether such a device has been used even after removal when taking in for service/repair.

If not too much dinero (brand new), how about its sinister cousin the Audi RS3? Not too douchebaggy.

LOL, you guys don't get it!

A show of hands of how many have owned a V8 with at least 5.7L displacement? I feel like I'm in that thread where people kept suggesting to me that a 5.5" woofer from a JBL monitor (which I happen to have) will do bass (even mid-bass at that) just as good as a 12" or 15".

    I want big V8 power.

The most annoying thing about the BRZ is that is has ZERO passing capability. f'ing @brencho's new Toyota Camry turbo can dust my BRZ during passing situations. Passing is important for SoCal (it's not bumper to bumper all the time). I DO NOT want some persian women honking at me, and then passing me while making slanty eye gestures and saying stuff like "ugly Chinese". I'd rather just pass people like that and get the f**k away as quickly as possible.

The BRZ would be great on a road course where we can maintain speed. The most disappointing thing about the GT86 is that the aftermarket never came out with a good solution for the power it needed. In hindsight, I was probably hoping instead of being realistic. There would never be a good forced induction system for a high compression motor. Putting on a hundred pounds on top of the motor and in front of the wheels (supercharger, intercooler, and piping) just go get 50-75hp more completely defeats the purpose of the BRZ, not to say retarded for $5000-$7000 and a voided warranty.

Turbo is great. But turbo lag sucks and doesn't help the 30-50mph and 50-70mph scenarios. I don't merely want to pass, I just want to get the f**k around ASAP, with people behind running 300hp+ sedans barreling up in line that I need to be in.

I'm sick and tired of modding cars. And why do it when FCA offers upgrades for cheap? I didn't understand WTH FCA offered the Charger or Challenger (or Wrangler to lesser extent) in 8 different models with 163 options. I totally get it now. It's like pick your mods when you buy it. Get warranty and great deal with the mods.

As someone suggested earlier, it would be worth giving a late model Chevy SS a try. In my experience, even the G8 GXP still holds up and the most recent SS included the latest improvements to the Commodore platform. Nothing feels the same as a large V8 and I personally would own a SS if I needed 4 doors. The Dodge stuff just doesn't cut it.

I was in the same boat as you last summer, coming out of a 335i lease. Wanted a V8 sedan, looked at the Charger. For me the interior was a turn off and I have to deal with snow in the DC area. Sure winter tires are an option, and I've done that with both BMWs I've had, but I still didn't think it would be wise on the 6.4L Hemi sedan. The major factor was that honestly it was just too big for what I wanted (and the wife didn't like it, she often switches vehicles with me on weekends shuttling the kids to activities).

Guessing you could probably get a great deal on a new or very lightly used one, when I last looked there was decent cash on the hood.

The JB4 is a piggy-back - not a flash tune, so won't cause a dreaded TD1 code to flag VWoA for voided warranty.

Definitely on the Chevy SS. I'm not totally convinced on Dodge, although I do like a lot of things I've seen from FCA in the few years. The problem with the SS is locating one with decent miles on it near where I live.

On passing power: I bought my Scat Pack Challenger coming from a Civic SI, which is ok when you are revving high. When I wanted to pass with the Challenger, I would shift into 4th and jump from 75 to 120 in about 5 secs. you should have the same effect with the automatic. I think a lot of people just havent experienced a naturally aspirated large displacement engine; it's just inherently different than most driving experiences. The Hellcat is even more insane, but with the caveat that you can't really access most of it's capability on most roads. Not so with the 6.4/392.

You know the real reason I want to get one is to drop my daughter off high school and mash the gas pedal down to mess with the Tesla and Mercedes douchebags. That exhaust roar and bark, starting and ending with the blub blub blub is satisfyingly frightening.

I'll let my wife take care of the Mercedes G-class wannabes (it's very obvious they will never take them offroading) after we get the big steel bumpers and winch on the Wrangler.

Haha. I don't think a lot of people know that in my 20s, I used to hang around in garages with crazy rednecks testing their motor builds with only the headers connected for exhaust, not knowing if a rod was going to fly out of the crankcase. I honestly was scared with it being so f..cking annoyingly loud!

Then they'd let me ride in their cars, testing the drivetrain at full throttle, trying to run down Mexicans who happened to be standing in the alleys or near the side of the street.

Alas, those days are gone. It seems that young people now listen to Sting while carving Mulholland in their German sports sedans.

I've got a 91 F250 with a 7.3L V8. Its my "run to get plywood/go to the dump" vehicle but the boys love how I can lay a nice black stripe down the street. Its a fugly beast that gets 6 mpg.

I would be concerned about stability with some electric cars. Absolutely no expert here at all. But yes, it seems electric cars can accelerate like mad.

I was watching Netflix "Fastest Car". They feature sleeper cars versus super-cars. The one before last episode on season 1 features an electric sleeper.

Are you kidding? That's lawnmower tone. Seriously NOT impressed. There are a few of them around here too. I'll take @schiit's Camaro exhaust sound over that.

LOL! No No. It's not electric. They put a Dodge HEMI V8 it with a solid-axle in the back.

I've 'only' got a 4.6 in my '05 Mustang but nothing remotely normal beats a V8 for passing power. Even the older detuned ones is my old '95 T-bird or my Dad's Grad Marquis I learned to drive on still have it. A lot of the newer 300HP V6 will beat them from 0-60, but get lose from 60-100.

Never driven something as fast as that Scat Pack though...

    Can't beat the V8 sound

I rented an F-150 last week while my 6.2L V8 GMC was in the shop and it had a tiny EcoBoost 2.7L V6 that sounded like a go kart and strangely turned off when you stop at a light. Only problem was that there were a couple times it didn't turn back on when the light tiurned green...
