Now that I actually have two setup for listening they sound great! As you can tell, too big for my space, I am about 3 feet from my speakers, but perfect for our college apartment.

I was a little confused but I think it's because its " Le Cleac'h horns". Unless @donunus 's cousin is in the USA, those horns will cost a fortune to ship.

My buddy has a CRT for this same reason. Too much input lag on modern panels.

These speakers are basically indestructible now. No fear of being broken at parties from being overdriven, or from people suckings filters in them, or drink people falling or spilling ok them. 85lbs and I feel confident hitting them anywhere with a hammer.

I'm glad they sound good as a pair. I was sort of confused earlier because the measured response didn't look too bad and suck outs are something you ususually notice over time, not right away.

I'd still try to work out that dip before you take them to school. I'd get them on something stable there too, like cememnt blocks (you can spray paint them flat black to match).

Yeah, IDK, I just did some quick tests on some tracks and I thought they sounded bad, not sure why. Put them together and did some listening and they sound good.
Ill probably still bi-amp them. I may just put them on the floor at school due to space concerns. We have an 82" rear projection TV, I may have to use the speakers as a stand for them. My current setup has them on a wooden stool and a rolling desk chair. Wooden stool speaker feels study, desk chair speaker spins around and wobbles a lot.
I probably could with this stuff, but ill probably just keep them in one place at 85lbs each. Just have the parties at my place.

C'mon man, time to work on that core body strength. I haul out 600+ lbs of gear for my gigs... Heck, I think my trunk of cables might weigh more than one of your speakers.

I'll measure outside tomorrow. The bass may not be present due to my tiny 10x10 room. When I go back to college I'll see if I can use the anechoic chamber to do some measurements. I'll have to get to know the acoustics protesters well, as they also have a dummy head. Would be fun to get to use this stuff to measure some speakers and headphones.

@spwath - How you liking (or not) the sound of that horn? Horn speakers tend to be a love/hate thing. Me, I am addicted to the sound of well done horn speakers, but some people find them annoying.

Personally I am good with a more subdued bass, so long as the bass is tight, and conveys the harmonics. I go to hear live for bass, but that happens in large venues where those long wave lengths are not restricted by room size (i.e., without the interference patterns I hear in a small room). Another way to write it is it never sounds entirely right to me in a small room or through headphones, so I've given up on reproducing live bass at home.

I like it so far. I'm in much to small a room for now though, when I go back to college I'll have a bigger space.

Are you using the KLF-20s in your profile pic? Are they upgraded at all?

@dmckean44 - Yea, still using my KLF-20s after all these years. I haven't upgraded, but they've given me many years of great service.

@spwath - Enjoy them. I do find horn speakers can be fatiguing too, but I have HPs for longer listening sessions. There is just something about the dynamics of horns that I've been addicted to since I got into HiFi.

Measured outside, still nothing really below 60hz. Also, still the dip around 1.2k.

Measure the woofer at full range (without the crossover).

Should I stop it at a certain point to avoid damage or will it be fine?
