OK, not drinking this right now, but have to share. Few weeks ago I visited the Asheville, NC, New Belguim brewery. On tap was their Geisha.

If you're at all a fan of sours, please, please, do grab a bottle and share it with friends. This is one of my top 3 beers, period, in terms of changing what I thought I knew about beer. Geisha is something that you'll want to keep in your mind as what amazing brews can do to blow all the dust off your biases and preconceived notions about beer styles and "proper" flavor profiles. It's absolutely phenomenal if you're open to it's concept.

    1) Heady Topper
    2) Geisha
    3) Cask Fuller's London Pride (don't recall all the details, but it was something to do with full "old school" production by a consortium of brewers trying to revive pre-refrigeration era period correct brewing, handling, and dispensing methods).

Brandy seems to have fallen out of favor of late, but it is still my go to.

Our province seems to have recently struck a deal with Castarede, and these bottles are now available:

Great flavor, body, and good straight up or with cocktails. All it needs is a smidgen of distilled water to bring the flavor out, or if you prefer a cocktail, add half a freshly squeezed orange into it.

What I am drinking is from all appearances a brown-colored grain spirit called Caliber Premium Canadian (what I know not). $5.99/750ml. Good thing I am not drinking it for the taste. It's all for the music. Chortles.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. A consistently good beer, available ‘bout anywhere in the country, and one of my go-to’s if I’m drinking beer. Stella Artois is another mass produced favorite.

@One of my go-to's as well. Good flavor but not overdone, clean feeling (whatever that means), has a kick to it but not too much... you can have a few if you want. Just a really good Goldilocks kind of beer, not meek but not too much either.

My go to is a Manhattan, typically Sazerac bourbon, Cocchi vermouth and Hella bitters.

Enjoying a cold Lezajsk and a Vegas Robina in the yard.

    20180802_162120.jpg

Funny thing about the Lezajsk, it tastes old/sour in Alberta, but further East it tastes very good. Perhaps this is due to distribution or storage during it's way out west. I always enjoy them when I visit my family in Ontario The Robina is a special cigar I've never tried. First third tasting very good. Intense but smooth, yum.

Man, ok I didn't want that to ever end. That's a good cigar! Troya has now been demoted as my favourite. :) As for Lezajsk, I will always recommend it as an easy "go-to," lager.

Living in Ohio I've had quite a few chances to have some tasty German-style beers, but tonight in Geneva was my first time having a crisp Löwenbräu fresh out of Munich.

I'm around these parts for a few more days, what else should I try to sample?

Starbucks blonde roast coffee. Ground this morning, drip brewed out of a Chemex, and as black as my ex's heart.
