@songmic FWIW I really love the pairing of the Pass Amp Camp Monoblocks with the older HFM headphones. The kit to build them is very inexpensive compared to other potential amp options, is upgradeable, and extremely easy to build. Good way to get into DIY and gain a better understanding of how amplifiers work too. It would be pretty easy to build something like an F5 or F6 as well.

The specs don't match the sound whatsoever. The ACA has a better grip on the drivers of both my Code-LEX and HE-6 (currently with LFF) than anything I've heard up to date, including my Pass-designed Adcom GFA-555 (which is itself a completely underrated design, Luis uses one himself).

I still have yet to hear other Pass designs or vintage amps, but I don't have any upgraditis in terms of amplifiers since building the ACA. I feel the ACA has a warmer textural rendering than many solid state amps as well, which pairs nicely with the older HFM's if you're normally sensitive to treble like me. Now I just feel my source and preamp could be better.

DIY is always the best value, if you're willing to invest the time.

Thinking of getting a J2 to power my HE-6 (4 screw) and Tekton Lore speakers. But curious on the F7. Any advice on which is better for female vocals?

Decided on the J2, Reno Hifi got a “demo” unit with zero hour on it, too good to pass up. I’ll post my so call impressions when I get a chance to listen.

The all new Dyson planar drivers!

Edit: do we think they fixed the 5KHz ringing?

You can't fix planar wall tensioning artifacts. Marv has already said that unless in extreme examples like M1060 with high THD at the point of tension you shouldn't hear it, and I agree.

I'm more worried about this headband as the HE-560 V2 headband had ZERO pivot adjustment and put more pressure on the back half of the pad than the front which was pretty annoying.

Ask one of my coworkers to translate. She said it's not technical information.

"Legendary headphone, gold plated, very detailed, new comfort headband."

New pads, new diaphragm, new headband, but still that crummy reflective grill on the back?

Seeing how they botched the HE-5 "reissue" w/ "thinner diaphragms" I'm not sold on this one.

But... How many screws does it have?

1800 seems kinda silly when the original was released at 1300.

You'd think a 'classic' type reissue would be a reduced price vs the original ie LCD-2C

Don't know how you guys feel about the pricing. $1.8k is really hefty for me. I was thinking about it for $1.3k. But not at this price.

1800USD is hilarious for a slightly redesigned 8+ year old headphone. They should have done this like Audeze (with LCD2 Classic) and give us HE6 Classic for 990USD.
