I recently read Goodbye, Things by Fumio Sasaki- a book on minimalism. After reading the book, I threw away a lot of unused stuff. Also, I am considering just keeping one pair of headphones for all my listening.

Slowly working my way through The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (going to take me months to finish Stormlight Archive).

Before that was the new Feist book (King of Ashes) and The Name of the Wind + The Wise Man's Fear

I'm a big fan of Brandon Sanderson's work. If you get tired of reading it, I highly recommend the Graphic Audio versions of the audiobook. Hard to listen to normal audiobooks after using their service.

My Brandon Sanderson sense pinged and I checked this site.

    Sup muh nerds.

Anxiously awaiting continuations of virtually ALL his series. The single thing I appreciate most about his books is how expansive the universe he writes them in is, yet how cohesive they feel as a whole. Definitely has given me an appreciation for how much planning he must have done on the side for all of this.

If you're looking for a good quick read though, the Emperor's Soul is my favorite of his shorter works. Even better if you've read a few of his other books to understand the implications a bit more, but it's a decent read on its own merits too.

    Also Hoid is the best.

I have sooo much to catch up on.

I have to finish the Malazan series (I'm on book 8 right now). Then I have to read the new Salvatore Trilogy. Then I have to catch up on the last Mistborn Trilogy, and then I have to catch up on the last couple Feist series.

This Malazan book 8 is kicking my ass being in a different POV.

Bleh, I think Sanderson is kinda overrated. I know people like his world building and the fact that he is very consistent and prolific. I just don't think his writing is very good. Some good ideas, but bad to ok writing. I personally thought that Brian McClellan's Powder Mage series (my favorite out of this bunch), Django Wexler's Shadow Campaigns, Brian Staveley's Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, and Anthony's Raven Shadow series all have better writing.

So far, very much living up to it's reputation, and a page-turner as well.

Finally finished Toll the Hounds (Malazan book 8) last night. Wow the book was slow going for a while but the ending is absolutely insane. Couldn't stop reading for the last 250 pages. On to book 9!

I think it was early last year or the year before that at my local Barnes & Noble I found a beautifully bound collection of the Foundation trilogy for about $10. An absolute bargain considering what I got out of reading it.

I read mostly fiction, 99% of the time. Currently reading Brad Thor's Scott Horvath series. Scott Horvath is an ex Navy seal and secret service agent. Thriller about black ops, cia, terrorism, counter terrorism, etc. Long series, about 20 books. I enjoy long series like this as you get to know the main characters very well. I'm on book 5 IIRC, or 6. Good reading, interesting facts, some cool new vocabulary words to learn as well, and most importantly, very entertaining. Highly recommended.

I miss the Barnes and Noble days. There happens to be one in my area now, which is pretty cool.

@Ringingears - The Foundation series is one that I re-read every decade or so. "Now you see it, and now you don't" has to be one of the most climatic moments I recall in fiction.

As many multi-book series I think the foundation series kind of fizzles out as it goes on. But the first couple of books, and especially the opening of the first book, is up there with the best sci-fi ever created. The Ender's Game series is very guilty of this as well, with the subsequent books being very different in style and scope. They have some merit to them, just very different.

Right now I'm reading this classic, first time for me.

Completely agree. It starts out mind-blowing strong, and then does indeed fizzle.

Another awesome thread I was hesitant to delve into. Too many great suggestions. Like many here, I mostly read Fantasy/Sci-Fi but like to read other stuff as well...my lovely bride read this book & it piqued my interest...a couple of pages and I'm hooked.

Very Apropos these days, which is why he wrote it.
