I sure hope Marv's measurements were not true, because I currently am able to get the T1.2 for a very cheap price, but now I am discouraged by the comments.

IMO distortion is the least of your concerns if you don't pack serious climbing gear to combat Mount Beyer.

Don't buy them. You'll regret it.

You already have a very nice dynamic pair of headphones, why not planars or estats?
Also beyerdynamics are, at least to my head, very comfortable, but I've heard bad things about these ones, idk.

Personally, my ideal headphone would be Focal Clear FR + Beyer soundstage (roughly), but such thing does not exist. I currently have the Amiron Home, and have been noticing that the treble has been tamed significantly (still not ideal but I can deal with it) after burning in; on the other hand, I do think Amiron's lower mids are a bit bloated for my taste. Seems like it is not a worthy upgrade, only for the little extra soundstage by the slanted drivers.

I do have an HD6XX about to ship, I am looking forward to it, I think I will miss the sub-bass thump and rumble though.

I do have my eyes on MrSpeaker's Ether Flow C (but such substantial hit on my wallet), I currently lack a good pair of closed cans and I have heard good things about them.

Different rigs and methods, different results. If you're good at combining data points from different measurement sites/individuals and triangulating from there, he's a solid resource. I wouldn't rely on any one individual to begin with.

Yes, it's very hard to make good closed phones, I've heard plenty good about MrSpeakers. Eh.

Anybody have some recommendations for a home theater style pc case, something I can put on top of my preamp or other shelf on my rack, and wouldn't look out of place? I checked newegg.ca and couldn't really find anything special. In fact most of them seem like they wouldn't fit. I was hoping to reuse my PSU, cpu, ssd, hd, ram and sell off the motherboard and case as they are both full size components.

I'm a fan of Fractal Design cases and the Node 202 is a great HTPC case if you can get an SFX psu. If you need to use an ATX power supply all of the Silverstone Grandia cases fit ATX PSUs and are also great cases.

Those are probably Solderdude's. I trust them. Possible we used different levels or maybe product variation.

Hard to compare measurements from different sites and different rigs though. His measurements in general look reasonable to me though.

    ***EDIT***

LOL! Agree with @zerodeefex, don't buy them. You might regret it.

They are Solderdude’s. Known him for over 8 years on several forums. He knows his stuff, and is trustworthy. Agree with @ultrabike. It’s hard to compare measurements across different rigs. But his measurements seem consistent within his data set. Also agree with @zerodeefex. Regret is a sad thing.

Never heared zmf eikon, but they remind me of sony r10 visually. I guess that can be a good sign. I'll go check those out.

Might be tough to find an audition, but also consider the Atticus, depending on your amplification...

Okay so in the past year of my time as an audiophile I have been buying and selling audio gear like crazy and I would like to stop that soon.

    Gear that I currently own:

    • Schiit Modi Multibit (From PC, BD player, and possibly a CD player down the line)
    • Parasound Zpre v.3
    • Parasound Zamp v.3
    • Project Ember 2 (brand new)
    • MCTH
    • Kef Q100's
    • HD650's
    • Hifiman Sundara's
    • Monoprice retro's

I am planning to sell my dac, the MCTH, and all three of my current HP's (the dac will be the last to go towards 2019). Why? I would like more features and connecability. I realized that my love for my current cans has really only been from new toy syndrome. Now it's time to make room for the two new HP's I have coming in. I just ordered a pair of Denon AH-D5200's and I backed the Verum One HP which will hopefully meet production goals in January.

I am very excited for these two headphones. My understanding is that the denons might not sound as good on a tube as they could on a solid state. And as for the verums I'm not sure. I just picked up this ember and I still need to figure out what jumpers need to be where and where to put the amp in my loop. What I found was that my HD650's sounded good through it, but I still hate that their isn't subbass and TBH, I've heard better detail through my sundaras through the MCTH/Ember. When I plugged the sundaras into the ember, the detail and the speed of the plannars still shined but there sounded to be a sort of haze on top of the sound. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it or not. Then again this could be altered with different tubes (oh boi). Still hesitant on selling the sundaras. I might keep them until I get my hands on the verum one and compare the two.

So I think I would be looking for an amp for my denon's and any future HP that would require solid state. I'm unsure whether the ember will be ideal for them, but if not I would like one that would suit the Denon's and the Verum's techincal needs. My budget would preferably be around $700 and is flexible. I really just want to get out of midfi and maybe just rest on the sea bed of the high end market. To my knowledge, since the Verum one is an 8 ohm HP, I would want something that has around a watt of output power at 12 ohms ( as per Verum's project updates on Kickstarter).

As for the DAC, I currently have my eyes on the Denafrips Aeres. This will be bought last since I would like to save more to get it. I really like it's features and ascethic and I'm considering it because I believe it could be my endgame. OFC I have no idea because I haven't heard it.

FYI - I really don't like Schiit products. After owning a Jot and a Modi I have made the decision that I just don't like their looks and functionality.

Thank you all for reading! All opinions and suggestions welcome!

LOL, not everyone hates Mr. Speakers or his products. He’s always struck me as a decent guy with a boutique business - high priced, small production nice stuff. I have the C v1.1. I spent most of a day back and forth with the C flow. I decided to stay with the plain C - it suited me better. He was closing them out at s price that bordered on reasonable. Still, they seem polarizing. I haven’t heard the Eikon yet. I suspect it’s excellent.

Meeting Dan (Mr. Speakers) in person will probably change your mind on that. Never before have I, as a potential customer, been treated with such disrespect or indifference.

He will never see a penny from me. Ever.
