Yeah, the Nautilus does nothing for me. Nor the Piguet Royal Oak.

Very nice Casio Diver's watch! What's the name and model number? I might just snag one....meanwhile, I do have a Casio Edifice Chronograph watch somewhere, when I find it, will post a pic of it here.

Casio Duro. If you do not want a G-Shock get the Duro. The Duro is its own thing and only the Citizen and Seiko divers with their kinetic-quartz or solar-quartz mechanisms are better for the money.

I love automatics but hybrid mechanisms are catching up. A Seiko Spring drive diver would be beyond awesome. Better than most dive watches ever made.

I am nerding out, get the Duro for little money or a G-Shock Tough Solar for a little more. When you do not like either the Citizen and Seiko divers with hybrid mechanisms are amazing.

My G-Shock keeps my money in my pocket. It is that good...

Oh but a Grand Seiko mechanical is world class eye candy, much as I love Spring Drive. The latest Hi-Beat 36000 GMT:

One of my favorite smaller manufacturers. Christopher Ward.

They have made a great business for themselves! My only wish (not an issue on the model above, but it is on most) is that they would back off on the "Christopher Ward" text on their dials. It was ChrWard a few years ago which was better, but still distracting IMO. For example:

It could be worse. I love my Berhardt Officer's Watch to death, but the font on their old logo looks like it belongs on the sign of a tacky "Irish" pub. To whit (apologies for my lousy photography skills):

Here's a photo of a diving watch from their site where the font is easier to see:

Since this is a watch appreciation thread, I've got a friend, a Caucasian gentleman in his 70's who's thinking of selling off his watch locally (I've made inquiries for him). I was surprised when a couple of local watch enthusiasts quoted me an estimated value of the watch (one even asked me to contact him should my friend decides to sell the watches)......a couple of old but very nice Rolex Submariners. The one on the left is the more expensive model.....

A couple of beautiful 1680 submariners! The left one looks like mid 70s to early 80s and the right probably late 80s to mid 90s.

Given the vintage Rolex market at the moment I think he is likely to get a pretty penny for both, however the older model will command the biggest premium. People love the creamy tritium lume.

I wanted to share a new Timex, limited in production and soon to be available from the timex website only:

It has a miyota automatic movement and for $250, it's kinda perfect.

Watch noob here, what brand should I look for luxury watch under $10,000? I think I like thin watches?

Lots of choices. A few brands I'd recommend looking at in that range are IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Rolex.

Jaeger LeCoultre is a great choice! Check out the master ultra thin collection, there are several and they can be had for a good price if you buy right (browse chrono24 and buy from U.S. sellers to start). Very good dress watches that you can wear with anything. JLC has a rich heritage and they actually made the movements for many high-end brands back in the day.

Nomos is a great entry to quality mechanical watches. They are not overly chunky.

A Rolex is always a nice choice and a datejust has a reasonable width, even if it's not thin. Omegas, on the other hand, tend to be hockey pucks.

Remember that chronographs (watches with a stopwatch function) will be thicker.

    That can be an advantage.

My uncle's dive master, if I'm ever attacked at night I can just spazz out and flail my arms and any attackers are virtually guaranteed a concussion, and that's a titanium.
