On this 100 years since the Armistice of WW1 in 1918, I thought a thread of music dedicated to rememberance, peace and the abhorrence of war and conflict was appropriate.

And on this day, and every day, a sincere thank you to all veterans and their families.

Kicking off with this most appropriate one for Nov 11th (at least for you folks in the "Commonwealth", not sure if this is played in the U.S. or not):

Next up is a great song from some fellow Canadians (who happen to be from near where I grew up):

Wouldn't veterans of WW1 have to be about 120 now? I'm, ahem, a senior citizen, and my dad was born in 1913 and my mum in 1916. My mother's maternal uncle was killed after the armistice was signed. It is said that my granny never got over the loss of her brother.

As time marches on, and generations pass, we loose the connection with these events. In England, when QEII lays a wreath, or something, for victims of WW2, well, she was there... but her son Charles, about the same age as me, was not.

Yep, definitely all the WW1 vets are gone now, but I was referring to all vets. In Canada at least, this is our equivalent of Veterans Day.

Not necessarily about a war between countries, but a war within a country - nonetheless brutal and senseless:
