I haven't heard either, and I hate to generalize... but at this stage of the game when you're comparing speakers that are similarly well reviewed with similar features and looking at your criteria, this is going to come down more to your size/portability requirements. If you want those clean mids and some semblance of non-manipulated bass, you have to go bigger with the T0 because of physics... Or go with the iLoud because it's almost a third the volume and weight and will fit in a big lunchbag. That's a super valuable consideration as well when space is a constraint.

In general, I am not a big fan of companies who rip-off original designs like RevoNext and KZ did copying the Campfire Audio looks. That being said, there are some competent entry level IEMs from Chinese brands, TFZ and KZ being among the most well-known. Thanks for pointing me out to the AudioBudget leaderboard. I like that the reviews are short, have FR measurements and compare with other IEMs.

That seems to align with my experience on the higher end of the spectrum. I wasn't sure the same gap would hold for smaller budgets. Looks like unless there is a strong portability constraint and assuming similar spending, one is better off with full-size open headphones to get the best sound.

I think the more traditional/conventional "rig" (at least that I see in online videos) involves a dimly lit den/computer desktop setup, but does anyone else on here have some of their best gear near/next to a bunch of windows/natural lighting?

I like to use my Schiit Jotenheim in my sunroom (often with a sidecar of coffee or an adult beverage). Right now I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-6XX's on a wooden headphone stand next to the end table/coffee table that the Jot is on... I'm not particularly fond (aesthetically) of those 6XX's (don't think they're particularly ugly or beautiful... love the way they sound, though). So I didn't/haven't worried all that much about sun exposure.

But I just pulled the trigger on a pair of black Audeze LCD-2 Classics, and although I don't have them in hand yet, I think I *do* really like the way they look (and hopefully feel). I watched Steve Guttenberg review them on youtube, and compared them (sound and appearance, if I'm recalling correctly) to the headphones version of an American muscle car, and everything about that appeals to/resonates with me. I'm super psyched to get them.

Anyone on here have any experience with headphones near a window? Do I need to worry about the sunlight fading their color over time? Should I store them somewhere/somehow else? Am I worried about nothing? I'd love the convenience of just having them plugged in, on the headphone stand, and ready-to-use without any setup required...

The LCD-2C is all metal so I wouldn't worry about the chassis fading.

I'm sure it will over several decades, cars do, but it seems silly to worry about such things.

The leather pads and headband will fade, but assuming you use them regularly you'll have to replace them due to wear before colour becomes an issue.

Hey Paradox Slant owners - recommendations for replacement pads that won't change the sound signature too much please? I love them as they are. The OG pads on my (2nd/3rd? Hand) pair are starting to deform and die...

Maybe worth trying to reach lff (the creator of Paradoxes) here or on Enigmatic Audio to get a definitive answer.

My Slants came with MrSpeakers Alpha Pads. Do your pads look similar to those?

Latest HM5 pads tone down the bass a bit which I like, without seeming to mess up the sound. But I do not have a measurement rig to say for sure. Need to select the largest HM5 pads to barely fit on the Fostex cups, though.

Thanks for taking the time @Dr J!

I've reached out to Luis already, grapevine here says he's super busy and out of comms for a while.

I've done a visual survey across the various pads that fit the Fostex, and the ones on my slants look pretty similar to Alpha pads.

Good to know ref the HM5 pads, thanks.

I think I'll go ahead and grab a pair of Alphas for now. Costs me $20 shipping usually, and returns aren't really possible, so I wanted to make sure before buying.

Can anyone recommend a balanced SS headphone amp that also has preamp outputs?

EDIT: A good amp. (not Jot or GSX) Probably not Rag, dunno) Not keen on Resistor vol control. Tick tick tick

You mean other than Jot? That's the only one I've heard/own ...

@cskippy Maybe the iFi Pro iCAN? Others have liked it, but personally I wasn't a huge fan (sonically it was good, but I felt all the fiddly knobs detracted from the amp, unless you enjoy having the options to play with).

I spent a little time with the Pro iDSD and it was pretty good but not for the price. Maybe as used one could be an option.

I have a Soundaware P1 coming in to try, might be good.

I liked the Moon 430HA, but that's getting into stupid money and it only has single ended preouts

How about the Bryston BHA-1? It comes up on the used market fairly regularly.

Phonitor 2 also allows you to feed the crossfeed matrix out the preamp, something the 1 or the X don't have.
You can also occasionally find the rack mounted version with the expanded preamp section that lets you choose from multiple outputs.

Could look at Rogue Audio RH-5 as well, though it does have a couple tubes in the preamp stage so may be disqualified. Also has a remote and an optional phono stage.
