I think these look pretty nice (or they would if the grills were not broken). They have a cool 70's look to them with those circles on the grills.

1 m² three way five driver horn, 150 Hz to 23 kHz. Bass depends on version (two, three or four 15"). Point source with constant directivity (would also be suited for nearfield listening). I like the looks, the sound should be impressive. Air motion transformer at the back. Size looks like 5' x 5' x 2'. If I had the mansion to put them in I probably could afford them. One of the best looking horns I have seen.

Why did I look that up...

Anyway, in a few months I'll have these things looking nice.
Already removed the dead mouse and mouse droppings from the inside. Now I just need to replace the RadioShack woofers with the original jbls and get new grills

Given the aesthetic of the Magico I would consider the 10 k more for the Dinamikks well spent.

I do really like how this speakers are designed, very clever shape, high WAF and looks smaller than it actually is.
Peak Consult Empress, it uses a 9 inch woofer and a 5 inch midrange from Audiotechnology and a soft dome from Scanspeak (Morel in the "XE" Edition, the one with the silver rings on the drivers)

I didn't have the courage to try that.

Wasn't the Euro introduced in 1999 or something? Or did you just convert what it was in the older currencies, like the Deutsche Mark or such?

to be honest I did not find a precise indication whether that was per channel or total, all the other specifications were per channel, regardless we are talking heavy weight. I guess Fischer figured out that the list of potential customers would not be that long so they came out with a small speaker called Anthaeus:

    Width: 17" Heighth: 56" Depth: 25"

Exactly half of the drivers count, same amps but two of them for each of the two bandpass bass drivers.
Of course there is no free lunch sensitivity goes down to a meagre 118 dB @ 1 m compared to the 125 dB of its bigger brother. Price back in 1989 the equivalent of 23.000 euros. As you can see you even got the thing in air brush finish.

Which was 160.000 DM for the Pegasus and 46.000 DM for the Anthaeus

Speaking of unorthodox speaker design there is Bohne Audio in Germany today:

This is their BB-12. Most of you will recognise the woofer courtesy of JBL. They offer three floorstander models: BB-12, BB-15 and BB-18. And yes you guessed right the name tells you the size of the woofer. The woofer is paired with a selfmade patented ribbon. The mastermind behind these speakers is Jörg Bohne physicist by training and active musician by vocation (drummer in three bands). He wanted to create a very "fast" speaker which gives you the dynamics of a horn with the resolution of a ribbon. I havn't heard these speakers yet, but I know people who have heard them and were impressed how direct and close to live these speakers sound. The amps proposed (class A/B) are in seperate housings. A Trinnov processor does the xover and DRC. Bohne claims that the BB-12 has a high WAF. In order to make it to my listening room (aka living room) it should sound extremely good. Personally I would go for Hypex class D for the woofer and Hypex or class A/B for the ribbon and do the xover with acourate. Bohne leaves you the option to use different amplification and xover.

    30 - 24.000 Hz (-3 dB)
    2x 350 W per channel
    xover 850 Hz
    120 dB max @ 1 m
    THD < 1 % 1000 Hz 100 dB @ 1 m

suitable for rooms 215 to 430 sqft

for bigger rooms see the bigger models:

    Cadence Avita. Actually Indian-made. :)

The radar follows you around the room, and the speakers discuss what you are doing.

Seriously though... Had a friend with a pair, and they did sound good.

Except... One day we were all giving each other WTF looks and my friend was looking increasingly worried, for the first few songs of a listening session, until he did a huge facepalm, jumped up, and plugged in the power to the electrostatic tweaters
