FS: Sonic Frontiers SFD-1mk2 w/ upgrade caps

Woke up one day and felt the need to downsize a little. This DAC doesn't get a ton of use so it's the start.

The DAC is a mk2 model, the digital ins are TOSlink/RCA SPDIF/ST Optical. I will provide it with run of the mill EH 6922 tubes, you may want to spring for upgrade tubes. Don't freak out if it doesn't play the second you turn it on, there is a 1 minute or so warmup timer for the tubes.

I have replaced the four output coupling caps with mundorf evo oil and the final output resistors to Mills MRA (brown). I also replaced the old worn RCA jacks with fresh ones. The work to do so was no small feat and took a lot longer than one would expect to accomplish.

You might spot that the box MKP film caps in there are white and not red Wima MKP's or blue Rifa; it actually came this way to me (must have been factory). If you can figure out the brand it would put my mind to rest as I could never figure them out.

The condition is so-so, definitely presentable but there are slight dings on the top corners of the faceplate and some light scuffing the top cover you might see in bright light. On the interior the adhesive for the stickers on the UA chips came undone so I placed some double side tape to get them to stay.

HD600 box has some water warping but the inner box is perfect. The headphones and pads are mint. The older black screen drivers are much harder to find these days.

 

That's a great question zd! Hmm, maybe some other obscure r2r dacs that dont use opamps, maybe ead or classe? A Pwd2 delta sigma? It's not an easy one I know!

Also lowered price a little on the sfd.

 

Any interest in a Monarchy M22B + cash? PCM63s, balanced or SE output, super punchy for an R2R.

I'm hesitant even to offer because I love my M22B but initially got it simply because I couldn't find an SFD and got a good price. Still curious about the famed SFD though.
