Not being familiar myself - are there many 'tables out there that would comfortably take a 12-incher? (No sex jokes please). The arm does indeed look great if that's the likely ballpark price, but if there aren't that many opportunities to use it would it be in their interests to split them? Same with offering the 'table as a stand-alone, I guess.

Of course, if they made a shorter wand as well - which looks like it'd be an easy alternative as it's a straight cylinder - then the possibilities would be greatly expanded...

The SL1200 is no slouch, and you seem to be settled in with digital. Do you really think a different turntable would change your habits?

This looks fantastic. I'd need a dust cover (2 cats in the house) but this will be very tempting.

I have no intention of buying one, I just like looking at pictures of overcomplicated mechanical devices without their dust covers

I've been very lazy but having great sounding digital finally has contributed. Feet up with remote and the right gear and masterings sounds as good as vinyl ever did.

And it takes a nice wooden plinth to get 12 inches of excitement from me. Although SME stuff appeals too. And probably says Made in England on it too! Real British engineering from real British engineers.

Back in the day, the Phono input on the integrated amp was all we needed and all we used (ok, I wasn't a Stereophile reader back then) and I nostalgically regret they they don't really exist any longer. Old-time music listening. And the music was good.

Nothing to extravagant price wise. It's all listed. I think modi multibit and my first good amps for headphones and speakers really bridged the gap so to speak. It just sounds more analog. I definitely end up with a SOL things change I'll come out of my vinyl hibernation if it bridges the gap again. Problem for me is everything up stream is mega bux for me for decent improvements.

Already turntables out there, interested to see where it falls but Schiit should not focus on catering to annoying hipsters.

Edit: To clarify, focus on Amplifier and DAC technology rather than Jack White recording in vinyl.

Schiit should do exactly what they want to do. If Mike wants to come out with a turntable, then Mike should do just that.

Clearly you have no concept of how to run a business. If you would like to understand where Schiit is coming from, I would recommend reading Jason & Mike’s book “Schiit Happened”. These guys have a clue and their business model is clearly successful (judging from the dislikes).

I dare you to call @brencho a hipster. I like vinyl a lot, but I’m just a dirty hippie at heart (not to be confused with a hipster)

Or @purr1n for that matter LOL. All my hipster system is missing is a Shinola TT and some wooden casework with steampunk knobs and records purchased from urban outfitter. @bonesnv, stop embarrassing yourself, you sound like a real Chad. There are turntables out there is as idiotic as saying there are amps out there. Go back to your mom's basement.

i believe that vinyl does suck. even back in the day.
but @brencho is too old to be a hipster with a neck beard. he’s just nostalgic.

With my glasses, no-tuck shirts, and skinny jeans, I guess I could be mistaken for a hipster. But all that's to disguise my reactionary nature to avoid condemnation from my Hollywood peers. I believe in prosperity, justice, individual accountability, TDK metal tapes, nukes, and apple pie. America, f**k yeah.

And the Rolling Stones too, even though they are from the UK.

I don't think hipsters can handle the Sol. The Sol doesn't have a play button and can't take selfies. Maybe goths or emos as I find them smarter than hipsters.

And here's me thinking that hipster is something that happened around the time of my birth: early fifties.

As to the little wave that just blew across the teacup: Schitt has probably had more than enough success to produce a product or two, maybe in limited numbers, just for fun. Yep: because Mike wants to. No further justification needed, or even relevant. And a million miles away from focusing.

If you have Gyro SE and SME 309 then SOL would not be interest to you. You already own superb system for vinyl playback..

For a guy like me who can only afford budget to mid-fi TT, SOL can be great option.. The issue for me is that it just takes too long and still no sign of coming out to market after waiting for it over 7 months now. Fingers crossed that they will eventually make it happen sooner than later.

Hate to say it, but in this world of high end audio complaining about having to wait 7 months for something isn't going to get you much sympathy...

I have no problem waiting at least it meets the target deadline or get close to. If I understood correctly, it was meant to come out by end of last year and now postponed to Feb/March which is pretty much now and no sign of coming out unless I missed the latest update about it... I guess that I am wanting it so much so that I am getting impatient.... I might need to chill out a bit.
