There never was a "target deadline". Schiit will release Sol when it is ready to be released. Don't confuse guesstimates from Jason or Mike with actual release dates or deadlines.

Yes, I was confused with guessmate with actual deadline.

No biggie... I will chill out by enjoying what I currently got while waiting for SOL to become available to public. As of typing this, I am listening Stuart Hamm - Kings of Sleep album with Technics SL1200 with AT-F7 Cart. It sounds great. :)

I wonder if the Schitt unipivot tonearm designer ever tried to add a stabilizing mechanism to avoid azimuth rocking like the Simon Yorke design, that is, to place a teflon sleeve over the shaft and a rod or plate on the side? I think it's still low friction and worth trying if I still have a unipivot arm around. Coming up with stabilizing system is part of the fun and creativity in unipivot designs, I think.

Check out this CanJam video especially 4:30~5:45 which introduce finished model of SOL turntable and the rep says shipping April or May this year which is not too far from now. It looks nice. One thing different from my understanding is that tonearm is 11" instead of 12" according to the rep.

When I visited the booth they said that you could purchase additional tonearms separately.

Its a bit more than 11" i think, which can be rounded up to 12" since most tonearms marketed as 12" are actually around the same length

I really hope they offer a speed control box for it down the line. I’m lazy and hate swapping pulleys.
I do love that clean aluminum look.

I don’t feel like going through and quoting everyone but sorry you all got butthurt about my comments regarding my personal preference that has nothing to do with you.

To clarify as well, I’ve read everything Jason has wrote since he started doing so and have bought Schiit since the start and continue to do so, just think the turntable is the wrong direction and is a over saturated market at any price range.

To those who take offense to my personal opinion, well, enjoy a big bag of dicks for breakfast and ban me if you want, you can be just like Jude! Dickasses.

I can’t say I’m not interested to see the final product as I’d be lying to state that, the range for cost that’s been noted is very competitive and full of existing good solutions. I’d like to actually touch one and see how everything feels.

However, I also know Schiit has a habit of surprising so I’m hoping that it’s not just another product and continues there line bringing something truly unique.

If it is good, excellent for everyone. Seemed everyone took my comments in all sorts of random ways, some offensively which made me laugh, maybe it was the hipster comment, hell if know.

Edit: Of note, you stated that since I had a Gyro I wouldn’t be interested in an item in this range, totally wrong. The Michell is far from perfect and there are a lot of times I miss the simplicity of the PF-800 as a primary in a lot of ways, like auto-return, the ease of setup although had no real azimuth adjustment, etc.

If you ever have to move and reset up the Gyro it turns into a half day event. Then, the really useful items needed to step it up are the power supply and Orbe Kit and if money allows the platter, that is a big uptake in total cost and makes you question on occasion every record you play. Not fun. Eventually the mood settles but it’s alwats in consideration like an expensive Cuban cigar...was it worth it.

So something with unique advantages over the Music Halls and Projects in this range, if it really did stand apart, would of course be intriguing.

I’ll go ahead and not edit this but apologize. This was off topic and took things to a personal level rather than focusing on the product. I’ll leave the post be but point taken on how I should be posting here.

Also may want to delete your browser history, can’t imagine what you searched for to find that and what else came up...

You didn't state a personal preference for sound. You stated that Schiit shouldn't cater to hipsters and then flippantly suggested that they concentrate on amps and DACs.

You were disliked and mocked for the following:
    1. Being an ass. Your suggestion could have been positively phrased instead of negatively phrased. You also haven't earned the right to be an ass. This privilege is earned after a few years of content contribution.
    2. Being clueless. Mike, the designer of all these DACs going back to the late 80s, also happens to be a vinylhead. If you ever met Mike or Jason, they are farthest thing from people wanting to cater to hipsters. Their first love is audio and wanting to do interest things.
    3. Even if they wanted to cater to hipsters, WTH is wrong with that? Are you some of communist-fascist that wants to see people not make money?

Nothing stated I can disagree with. Appreciate the blunt input rather than pussy footing around. Noted and points well taken.

The damage is already done. You are not forgiven. None of us is Jesus, therefore we cannot forgive you, that is give you a clean slate.

Your actions have left a huge poop stain in the minds of all the members here. It's going to take a lot of forebearance and understanding on the part of the members. Decide on what actions to take going forward.

I’m agnostic so Jesus and redemption is not relevant. No worries on not having a clean slate. I can see I’ve done my damage so I’ll make my exit stage left from the forums; not looking to jump through hoops to regain some kind of ‘forum trust’. Thank you for the opportunity to briefly take part, and apologies to those I’ve offended, was not the intent.

Actually your posts today, dickasses aside (but also, hilarious), have been totally reasonable so maybe stick around a little if you want to participate.

Lol dickbutt what's with the hipster bashing? If it weren't for hipsters all the bloody record shops would be shut down.

Also this turntable is really exciting! a complete skeletal deck with 12" arm, inverted bearing and cart for $700!
