Lannisters breed their men tough - two mortal stab wounds (I dare say the blood loss alone would end him in minutes), and the King Slayer still manages to climb to the Keep, get Cersei to "safety", and then the idiot stays around long enough to get crushed. FFS at least make it somewhat believable.

After watching that, I'm wishing that Drogon had ducked one of the last ballistas, but at that moment Dany was upright ..... skewered and flipped off the back. Drogon goes mad, the sacking of Kings Landing happens. And both sides unite to bring it down. At least that would have had some merit.

I actually do really like how Arya keeps making the right choices. The child traumatized into becoming halfway to a psychopath and then trained by the best assassins in the world, is the one who cares more about people than her vendetta. She's like a mirror image to Dany. She's something Dany could have been.

Well, with episode 5 out of the way I have to say that this trailer sets up the finale nicely. I am intrigued to find out who gets / stays behind Dany after everything that just happened...

This one was... not good. For a whole catalogue of reasons.

Question for the council: who was Varys writing his letter to?

Totally mixed feelings about this one, although I did have a few laughs when certain lines drew strong memories from other cinematic/musical works. Anyone else have the same thoughts?

    1) Arya finding the white horse in the middle of the burning city = "Only a Miracle can save him" from History of the World - Part 1.

    2) Dany's statement of "alright...let it be fear" = Mother Gothel from Tangled "...fine, now I'm the bad guy."

    3) The last half of 8:5 = The Talking Heads...need I say more?

The Patriot missile systems seemed to fail badly this episode despite going 3/3 last time.

A Warthog A10 with unlimited ammo can wreck a large medieval city.

Haha f**k no kidding. The least they could have done is had the dragon been hit once this episode to make the last encounter seem more believable.

Yeah, wondered about the unlimited ammo part. What fuels a dragon anyway? Assume it's magical but seems like the dude would need to refuel at some point...

Too bad Dragonfire doesn't sound as cool as an A10's Vulcan cannon going off.

That Drogon wasn't hit once was not a problem for me. That Rhaegal and Viserion were was.

After firing a million of toothpicks, eventually one might hit once a season.

Like @haywood said, dragons are this magical monsters that are basically nuclear weapons in that world. The NK could destroy them with his own brand of nuclear powars. But spears? I would have always said, bitch please.

But no, NK and Euron did it who knows how.

Possible Thanos dropped a universal black-hole powered EMP on the Avenger's universe, afecting Westeros and Essos. This in turn disabled the spear guidance systems.

Yara should have come back with her own fleet to take out Euron.

I blame the beancounters at AT&T for why this did not happen.

    It was Thanos.

It was the same black-hole powered EMP that Thanos dropped in the Avenger's world, and disabled the Scorpion's navigation system in Westeros and Essos through a wormhole.

It broke Yara's fleet navigation system as well. I can see her going back and forth with Chewbacca trying to fix her fleet's hyperdrive.

So does Jon now see Dany as an enemy? Obviously he's not going to support what just happened.

If he doesn't, then the last 7 seasons were kinda pointless. Jon has been established as classic Lawfully Good character. There's no way he can abide by Dany's actions, which were everything he's stood against from episode one.

Unless I'm missing something here, the producers/writers completely got it wrong with regards to Jaime and Tyrion and the fate of KL.

Jaime's evolution from a self-serving and narcissistic asshole into a truly great and complex character came right after his hand was cut off. Where he is stripped of pride and left utterly humbled. But we are also shown that even beyond that, his supposed lack of honor and loyalty were simply part of a larger misunderstanding that stretches way back to the last moments of Aerys Targaryen.

In addition, one of Tyrion's greatest scenes was at his trial for the murder of Shay. In it he professes his hatred for the people of King's Landing and them being ungrateful for what he did to save the city from Stannis Baratheon. Made some pretty damning remarks about what he wished he could do to kill them all.

And now? Tyrion all of a sudden becomes a champion for the millions of innocents in KL? The ones who wronged him and sentenced him to death unjustly? Jaime casually reveals that he never cared for the people in the city?

OMG, he actually is lawful good. Would think otherwise because he seems to want to hang with out with Nanook of the North, but he really is.

My main problem was not the outcome, but the lack of build up to the outcome.
I didn't see enough reasons for Danny to decide to burn the whole city.
I was hoping for an Apocalypse now level decent into madness but instead all we get is just a quick snap.

The Iron Throne poisons everyone who sits in it or aspires to it. Is Dany fucked? Clearly. Are we really to believe anyone else wouldn't be?

My dad was a USAF pilot for 27 years and as a kid I got to climb all over an A10 and see the ammunition up close. OMG that cannon is scary and the shells are huge. I got lifted up and looked down the barrels of the GAU-8 and I would not want to be anywhere other than in the cockpit (or miles away) when that thing is let loose.

And totally agree, the sound of it firing is awesome...
