Don't forget Nexus on Gungnir Multibit!!!!! Sorry Gungnir 2. Long live the nicknames!!!! They add a relatability to the company. ("Yes our names are too hard to pronounce. Use these awesome nicknames instead")

Whoa wtf. If I type I'm an idiot who tries to bypass the auto correct for Gungnir Multibit (Gungnir Multibit) the website changes it to Gungnir Multibit? Seriously @ SBAF ? Too far.

Edited as I was kindly informed this was a SBAF decision, not Schiits.

Mmmm dislikes. Cool. Didn't know that existed.

The word filters are in place because the lack of consistency was causing pointless arguments.
The nicknames also caused confusion among new members and diluted the accuracy of search results.

Bifrost 2 looks like exactly what I need for my next upgrade. Currently Sennheiser HD800S + Bifrost 1 D/S + Lyr 3 and looking for more B A S S. Yggdrasil/Gungnir was out of my price range, even used. Always wanted to try Multibit but going from Bifrost D/S to Bifrost Multibit didn't seem like as big of a step as Bifrost D/S to Gungnir Multibit due to all the other stuff you got along with the Multibit chips (Power upgrades, extra physical space, Balanced capability, etc). Consider me HYPED.

Schiit had nothing to do with it. The nicknames were running out of control and I want us to do better in search. We're page one of Google search results for "Gungnir multibit" now despite being a small community. I'd rather have a filter and have folks find useful information out in the wild than no filter and have asshats happy.

Well that's good to know. I know my opinion matters only to me, but I'd rather see something along the lines of Gungnir Multibit (I pooped myself) with parentheses instead of just Gungnir Multibit.

Anyway. The Bifrost 2 seems to be an exceptional value if it indeed comes close to the A1 sound of Gungnir Multibit.

Yeah, it wasn't my intention to come off as whiny but clearly what I said upset a few people. To clarify again, I am not upset with Schiit in the slightest. Just bad timing on my part. Ability to upgrade the DAC section was a big part of my purchase. Again, I totally get what they have done with the Bifrost 2 and they definitely made the right choice and have put out another awesome product that represents an insanely good value. And that this one is actually more easily upgradeable is really attractive to me.

And besides, it's not like it's painful for me to part with my Oppo... I have two of the damn things. I got them at a steep discount and could probably get more. I won't miss it.

edit: yeah, I know it's an older chip, but I trust that they will find some way to improve the analog section. they wouldn't have made it modular if they didn't think there was room for improvement.

It was not designed in Italy. As clearly stated on the product page and in the chapter and in tons of teaser posts by Mike and myself, it was designed by us. That is, Dave, Mike, and Ivana. Here at Schiit Audio. USA.

@rlow yeah, I misunderstood you the first time but I get what you're saying now. and that is a fair point, between new chips, new analog section, and unison, the difference in money paid out would be smaller than the value added by balanced outputs alone. I still maintain that it's not unreasonable for me to feel a bit disappointed that I bought an "upgradeable DAC" for which upgradeability was a major factor, within less than six months of that model being replaced. but I also get why they did it, I get that the new unit is an even better value than the first, I think they did the right thing by making it even better, and I still plan on selling the old one plus my spare Oppo to make the upgrade.

Clearly not a good joker! Was I supposed to have a /s on the sarcasm ? Sorry team...

I'm not gonna throw my Gungnir Multibit away just yet, I love the sound, I will just wait for the Jan usb upgrade. What I guess I was hoping for was the Gungnir being updated with a remote chassis, and I could send it in and pay for that upgrade. As the remote is an attractive option in my setup.

Whoops! I was just joking about italy. Sort of a potential "fashion" thing joke. I'me very appreciative about how Schiit gear is designed and assembled in the USA.

I was reading some of the literature available on the internet regarding the op amps Schiit used for the output stage on Bifrost 2. I believe it said the op amp was inherently differential. Is it possible the op amp they are using solves the summing issue present in Gungnir Multibit and avoids many of pitfalls of cheap assed balanced that Mike and Jason have talked about previously?

Edited. Whoops. I misread something. Sorry @schiit
I'm just a noob and still learning this stuff, so maybe I'm way off base.
