Mobile Fidelity (MoFi) Turntables and Phono Stages

I got a Technics SL-1210GR instead, it is in the similar price range and it is great so far.

 

That's actually my second option... hmmn.

 

Can heartily recommend the SL-1210M5G, which is a black version of the popular DJ turntable. If you go the whole hog with an upgrade arm and decent cart, it's a giant killer. You're welcome to come check it out when I have mine up and running again. It's currently unhooked while I reorganize my space.

 

Take a listen, you'll likely wonder what the fuss is over fiddly $750-$1000 half-assed Music Hall and Rega type stuff is about.

 

So when I was in the same boat, I researched the MoFi tables. I was looking for something with a plinth with high mass and was reliable. The reviews for MoFi tables are all good, but came across many threads on other forums which complained of early reliability and manufacturing issues. It seems like these issues are resolved and MoFi CS seemed good. I thought about ordering from Crutchfield because they have a good return policy. In the end, I kept running across the SL-1200 series stuff especially the G and GR. I don’t mind the look of the Technics tables and the G and GR are built in Japan. The GR is very easy to setup and adjust. A few Friends here are very happy with their Technics tables and I’m one of them. I paired with a Nag MP-150 and resurrected the Franken phono TC-750 and I can’t get enough vinyl!

 

What cart are you using on the SL-1210GR?

 

Nagaoka MP-150, since some people have described the table as having a brighter sound I wanted a cart with a warmer tilt.
