Somebody GET THAT Rosewood Classic 3!!! You will never see it again as that wood cannot be harvested anymore.
I DON'T need another table and I'm getting tempted for no reason...

The Classic 3 and Classic 4 have the exact same build quality. The 4 lets you roll two tonearms together, which is neat. Setup one for stereo, one for mono and go into a phono section with 2 inputs or two separate phono sections.

12" arms have a SLIGHTLY less tracking distortion than the 10", but in reality when you play stuff, it is unnoticeable. Others argue that the 10" tonearm length is best of both worlds...less tracking error than a 9" arm and less resonance problems than a 12" arm. It really actually depends on the build quality/implementation of the the tonearm itself. The VPI JMW unipivot is a time tested tonearm that will not hold back any cartridge at any price. There ARE better and more elaborate arms, but they start costing more than that Classic 3 already.

On one of the the tables, I use the Helius Design's Silver Ruby tonearm which costs much more than that Classic 3. It has a different sound presentation, better in some ways, but all that disappears when you get involved in the music. The Classic 3 WILL get you engaged in the music as well...and then the differences don't even matter because the musical experience is so enriching and engaging.

Bud, get the Rosewood Classic 4 from the same online outfit. It is a slightly larger plinth which is nice. Run the 12 inch arms and enjoy a lifetime purchase. It's awesome to be able to run dual tonearms on a given table.

Over time and playback enjoyment, price becomes irrelevant from what I have seen. Once those tables are gone, we won't see a Rosewood one like that.

Also, I'm a bit peeved at the new Avenger table from VPI. They have a new Magnetic platter where the thrust plate on the master platter has to be changed out every year. What a hassle! The classic series is pretty much set and forget. Might be one of the best turntable series VPI has produced sonically, aesthetically and build quality wise.

Did @purrin snap this up? He said he was looking for a Classic 3.

FYI, the gloss piano black Classic 3 is to die for beautiful. I like the look of wood grains a lot, but you aren't going to turn your nose up at a gloss piano black one either! It looks and feels like a Steinway Grand piano black finish!!!

That's out of my price range at the moment. I went to the dentist yesterday afternoon expecting to be looking at a $6000 bill, but it ended up being $4000 spread over the next 18 months. I got home and was 90% sure I was going to grab that Rosewood pre-owned Classic 3, only to find it gone. My only concern was, that in the pic the wires to the tone arm looked kinked. Oh well, I still may end up getting the Walnut B-stock Classic 1. If anyone snagged that Classic 3, I hope someone from here did, and if @purrin did buy it, are you going to sell your Classic 1 for a nice price?

It's all relative; but yeah, the Crack is unresolving, especially compared to what was on hand.

I actually felt the T3 was more resolving than the BW with a wider stage. I didn't have any treble issues with the Amperex, but I feel those who expect a more relaxed or rolled treble sound should probably look elsewhere. Has a lot of similarities with the BW, and IMO slightly nudges it. Highly recommend this amp for those willing to DIY. Just take precautions and don't zap yourself with 300 volts.

Was this @gepardcv's amp? If it was, I heard this at the Bay Area meet a while back and thought it was fantastic. His table was next to the EC table, and he brought a KGST with some SR207s (or 307s?). Very tempted by the KGST then and still now considering that the SR-L700 looks quite interesting. Don't know if I want to go back the the 'stat world again though.

I didn't get to spend real time with T3. Might consider the regular torpedo at some point with the cinemags though.

@purrin just to contextualize, are your thoughts about the T3 above specific to hd650 and the like or would that hold true for planars also?

From reading the t3 thread it sounds like a [insert sports analogy here] with hd650/800 which is awesome!

I only tried with the modded HD650 / HD580 at the meet.
