I need some advice with two amps and two headphones, the fostex th-600. And the Hifiman HE5SE
and the Aune t1s\x1s or Fiio K5 Pro.

I can get both of this headphones for a good price, I lean toward the Fostex TH600(with ZMF ORI Pads) as I listen mainly to rock music, progressive rock, thrash metal, some classical and hip hop-electronics. The Hifiman HE5SE comes with Dekoni pads.

The Fiio K5 Pro seems more powerful and with an added DAC. The T1s looks nice, But I don't want to get new and improved tubes for it if the original one is not good enough. The X1s looks good but older and maybe less powerful.

    thanks.

@Vanderhammill I own the Denon AH-D7000 (very similar to the Fostex) and the Hifiman HE5SE. I'd say from the genres of music you listed, you'd be happier with the Fostex.

Can't speak for the amps you asked about.

I run Audirvana/Asio from my optimized Win10 laptop into Asgard 3 with MB card as a preamp to a Rolls Promatch which balances it and raises it to +4dBu (pro level) to my JBL 3 series LSR310 sub which feed my pair of 305P MKll monitors. Without the Rolls in the chain the JBLs sounded very weak. The 3 series is staying. I am definitely getting a Bifrost 2.
My question is how much improvement would be had by staying balanced the entire chain by buying a Freya+ and perhaps selling the MB card and just using the Asgard SE for a headphone amp? The JBLs seem to scale very well and could easily be TOTL for me given the right source/chain.
This is used for everything from Movies to Jam bands, Blues, Metal, Reggae, Jazz. I feel that a HiFi System means everything sounds good on it or at least accurate to the source. An added parameter is to sound full range at low levels which I believe the stepped attenuator in the Freya should excel at.

    Thanks for replies in advance.

PS: I just added a WYRD ahead of the Asgard.

    Topic: USB extender/splitter?

I've been really happy with my Surface Laptop 2. Except that it has only one USB port and... I should have sprung for a larger SSD. Do any of you use any kind of USB extender or splitter (for an external SSD and a DAC)? Is this pushing a single USB port too much? Will one USB port for multiple devices mess with sound quality?

    Thanks all!

Neither amp will be good for the he6se. You could get a good used Adcom GFA 535 for about $100 +- to run it from the speaker outs. I have only read about the Fostex and they would not be my choice.

Very basic question about Pi Systems/USB isolators.

I have a Singxer SU-1 D2D spitting out signals to my DAC from a PC's USB. Contemplating moving this to a Pi-based source, replacing the PC, with USB out.

Question: when using the SU-1, is there any meaningful benefit to upgrading the Pi's USB output with various boards, hats, etc if I'm running through a presumably good D2D already?

Had assumed not, but wanted to pass this by the forum.

    Thanks all.

It depends on what your D2D gets to work on and how efficiently it can clean data before processing it further. It might go both ways, you might add an item and get zero improvements or the other way around.

I do. I had a cheap 5 port hub, then got a nicer powered one like this. I don't know if it's quieter or not, but it doesn't draw power from the host device when plugged in. It will also work not plugged in. I've had a bunch of stuff plugged in at the same time, including a DAC, external drive, AVR, keyboard, something else, and everything worked fine.

Hi there I have a friend a good friend who has been having major problems these past few months, he recently moved into a new house and he has to deal with a number of issues the major being as he describes a very loud nasty Hindu mic on a car that drives around all day blasting a really nasty type of Hindu Music and terrorizing him, supposedly for funeral etc he contacted the police but they are doing nothing about it

Secondly he has this neighbor who starts a lawnmore every day and cuts her lawn every day for unknown reasons.

Thirdly there is a car place that installs car music that also blasts a set of nasty Jamaican Music he calls it which tarnishes his IQ, he says he has become ever so dumber as the day goes by.

He is however a non believer in science despite having a Electrical Engineering Degree, so he doesn't believe that Open Back Headphones are real even tho the science is clear with regards to openness and sound stage, I have invited him to test out my HD 58x but he clearly doesn't want to look like a fool and see for himself how wrong he has been.

He says he doesn't want to hear an open back because he needs a closed back to cancel the nasty noise, and by doing so and realizing the superiority of open back he will feel like he has wasted money on a closed back.

Therefore I am here requesting you guys help him decide on a Closed Back with Noise Canceling while at the same time providing the best Open Back sound, or perhaps a somewhat decent sound stage if possible. This headphone I am hoping to be of audiophile grade and somewhat match my HD58x if possible? it needs to be under $300 USD this is his max budget. I was thinking of the Bose Noise Canceling? but generally I don't really recommend Bose.

He needs the Headphones for Gaming

5 paragraphs of shit before you could arrive at the point.

Is it you driving around terrorizing people with Hindu music? That's basically what you've done with every post you've made on this forum.

Tell your brother to flag the driver down and beat him senseless. Problem solved.

I highly suggest your friend move.

However, if you want an alternative to Bose noise canceling, check out the Sony WH-1000XM3.

Other options might be IEMs if he wants to go that route. The possibilities are almost endless there and fairly easy to get a cable with a mic.

Please refrain from using religious words on this forum. It's not like you will get suggestion of different noise cancelling headphone for noise coming from particular music. A noise is a noise.

Hi there the reason the word Hindu was used is due to frequency of the music, it has a very high pitched frequency that may not work well against noise canceling as opposed to other western music etc

It was used for scientific reasoning however I am shocked to be met with racist post against ME aswell as Hindus by members of this forum.

It’s a matter of time until ASR tires you creating a new thread to ask inane questions every 10 minutes. We are beyond tired of it here. Time to take your leave of this place voluntarily while you still can.

Ok, I was initially prepared to believe he was just a bit slow on the uptake but it's now blindingly obvious what he is. Banhammer time.
