Thanks for that info. I'm looking at one used down here in Australia that was purchased last year. The owner doesn't know whether or not it has the revision. Is there any way to tell from the serial number or anything?

There have been some reports that the internals are not visually distinguishable from V1 to V2.

However, one member (@uelover) stated that he had ordered his ROM upgrade, only to open his Modi and see that it was already on the latest firmware.
Pictures from the guide @batriq posted and posts from @hutt132 show the upgraded chip with the white "MD218" sticker in place vs the old one with the factory engraving on top.

A method to determine the version without visual confirmation/opening up the casing (and voiding the warranty)

Does anyone know if there's an list of updates done to the firmware on the upgrade chip for Modi Multibit v1? I'm thinking of buying the chip directly from Schiit but it would be nice to se a list of the actual improvements before I buy it.

You either think it sounds better, or you don't think it sounds better.

To my ears, it was an improvement - more apparent detail, less warm. @purr1n synopsis in the first post pretty much nails it.

Please anyone correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe the upgraded firmare fixed the 0 crossing and also added dither. I don't think there was that much drastic changes. I think even that was just from testing and comparing. None of the actual changes were published.
