^ I had to google that case to figure out where the PSU is.

The power supply, two hot swap cages, and cable management all sit in a pocket behind the system board. It's a nicely designed enclosure. You can use it to design something simple and elegant or you can go bat shit crazy with custom water cooling. I had considered building a custom loop but, decided against it. I have a second system with a Corsair 570X I might use for that instead. Still haven't decided since I'm contemplating selling it. Who knows.

Either way, for anyone looking for a good looking and easy to work with enclosure the Lian Li is hard to beat.

So Ive been wanting to retire my i5 4570k for a while now, its just not cutting it in new games anymore. Ive been considering getting a 3600 setup, but I....came across a Dell SFF PC with a 6700 in it. So I gave it a try, a few issues arose. First off the motherboard inst a standard Micro ATX ITX..hell I can remember which is which, and it doesn't use a standard micro screw pattern.

So it wouldn't fit my my case...or any case really for that matter and my graphics card is way too big to fit in the dell case..even if I heavily modified the case, the card was physically longer than the entire case. The Dell mobo also doesn't use a standard 24 pin atx power connector, its uses an 8 pin.

So what to do...how about yank every out of the dell case and make a wall mounted PC. I found an adapter on amazon to change the 24 pin from my PSU to the dell 8 pin, I got a different cooler because the dell one mounted to the dell case. I got a screw kit from microcenter and drilled some holes into the board and screwed some standoffs into the board in the correct...ish pattern for the mobo.

This was really just a proof of concept to see if I could even get this thing to work. So let me show you what I got going, and again its ugly right now, this is definitely not its final form.

So first off my board is way too small. So next thing is going to be a bigger board and I will flat mount probably everything and route the wires all nice and stuff. I may put the drives in a cage so I can stack them to save a little space but Im still not sure. Once everything is mounted on a board the way I want it its going on the wall. Ok I cant post an image so you all will just have to take my word for it.

How much did your temps improve with that big boy? I'm using the stock Wraith Prism now, but I'm considering taking it off, cleaning it and the CPU, and applying Arctic Silver. I think that would be better than the stock paste - maybe drop temps 3-5 degrees F. At least, that's what Arctic Silver has done in the past. I don't know why I didn't clean the damn Wraith Prism off and use AS in the first place. Duh...

My idle temps were around 50c with the wraith prism, now it idles around 30c. Noctua is dead silent even at full load, prism was loud AF when gaming. Highly recommend the upgrade.

Is this a simple swap, or do I have to remove the motherboard and install a backplate, etc.?

That improvement in temps is awesome!

You use the stock backplate. Depending on your case you should have access to it without removing the motherboard.

Unfortunately, that model is too tall for my set-up (I have a mid-size tower that is on the small end of mid-size), but there appear to be plenty of options from Noctua that will work.

Upgraded my RIG to Ryzen 2700X on an ASUS b450 board. Got a sweet deal on that, half the price of 3700X. Love the "torque" Ryzen gives. 8 Cores and 16 threads is the sweet spot for me.

Running Stock Prism cooler in near inaudible mode. Turned off Ryzen overclock feature which made the CPU go to insane voltages like 1.5V for the core over nothing. Later might upgrade the cooler and return to stock settings, but I hate the fan spinning up. Stock settings are really aggressive in terms of power and voltage.

Added a little more bling since my last pics here, bought an RGB Aorus GPU brace for bling bling, added 2x 1TB Samsung 850 EVO for storing more games.

Shifted this rig to where my i7 3960X was, basically swapped places, so that I can run Freesync 2 on my PowerColor VEGA64 Red Devil.

I have been using the same PC since the end of 2017 but I don't feel any need to upgrade it, been spending all my money on audio instead lol. I have way more radiator space than I really need but it allows me to run the fans at very low RPM (~400-600 depending on temps) so it is almost completely silent which is key for using it as a media machine when not gaming. Temperatures never go above ~60°C when gaming and idle at ~25°C. The spec are:

This is my 2nd system, I use it for games, watching videos, surfing the net and such.....system specs below:
    Acer XR341CK 34" 21:9 75Hz monitor
    Intel i7 3960X 6C/12T at 4.2Ghz
    Asus Rampage IV Extreme
    Leadtek GTX1080 Hurricane
250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD (OS)
    500GB Sandisk Ultra SSD (games)
    4TB + 2x 1TB Western Digital Black HDD
    Seasonic X-1200 PSU
    Philips Fidelio HTL9100
Creative SXFI Theater (great for movies)
    Probox Hotway HF2-SU3S2 4-Bay Enclosure w/ 4x 6TB HDDs
Oppo HA-1 (for my various cans)

Edit - Another reason for going 21:9 monitors is so that fullscreen can be attained without annoying black bars on top and below as with 16:9 monitor. Below is a pic of Alita (also included the 4K Bluray copy just to show I do actually own the movie), I'd cropped the movie's 2.35:1 aspect ratio (I believe) to fit my 21:9 monitor, and it's just awesome!

I needed good FP/mutlithreading for handbrake video conversion. The last box was an AMD Phenom-955 build, which is still sitting upstairs and I need to convert to W10, when I think its needed (maybe it won't be). So when I built this, AMD was a bad joke and had been uncompetitive in the serious CPU market for way too long. Two fans pulling in from the front (right side), 1 fan pushing out back, grills on top and back side also.

I love this little Core V21 case after being a tower guy since the beginning (1990 or so). It is so easy taking off panels, filters to clean, etc. Yeah, a bit of a pain with my first micro ATX build but not bad. Nothing is that bad after you upgrade memory/HD/SSD on a mac mini.

At the time, I wasn't going to bend over for GTX-1080ti pricing. Also, this rig ran Fallout4 fine. I was also (then) playing lots of MMORPG (DDO) and didn't need more. I still don't, I hardly game. My next game purchase when it hits GoG (or maybe Steam) will be The Outer Worlds. Otherwise going through BG/BG2, so no need to upgrade. If I do, I will try an AMD card most likely

I did co-build a machine for the son of a close friend. So we built around a Ryzen 1700

I upgraded my NAS a couple years ago (was a Synology DS 212j), went to a DS918+ with
    WD Red WD100EFAX 10TB 5400 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s x2
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
    Patriot SCORCH M.2 2280 512GB

Changed to a Silverstone ftz01. Very compact, but still supports full size GPU, and atx power supply.

Looks like a bigger Dr. Zaber Sentry. Nice! I like these unobtrusive cases. I hate the windows/RGB bling. I don't need my computer reminding the world that I have no friends.

My work computer has a lot of bling... I want to disable all the RGB, but I'd have to swap out components and it belongs to my work, so nope.

    IMG_20200821_091646.jpg

I mean, I can't really complain. It has an i9-9900k, RTX 2080, and 64GB of ram. I'd use it as my main rig if it didn't get loud under heavy load.

I think RGB can be fun. Ive really enjoyed doing a few RGB builds for people in the area. Just kind of a neat way to personalize. Something a little flashy to look at.

It legitimately upsets me that people leave it on spinning rainbow vomit... especially when literally every part is RGB. It starts to look wicked tacky. I say pick a couple of parts to accent and try to come up with a color scheme. It always looks kinda lame just thrown on there as much as possible with every possible color. Like, "LOOK at ME!!!"

That said, I think I'm trading my NZXT h710 for this little guy.

    https://www.sliger.com/products/cases/cerberus_x/

Expensive, but so nice and compact.
