It’s been a really long time since I heard the IT03 but the Dunu DK2001 might be a good alternative. It should be a bit warmer with slightly bigger bass is memory serves.

Does anyone have experience with Onkyo E900M?
Been looking for a nice hybrid to try for reasonable monies. This popped up second hand, but do not want to waste money if it is no good.

Also a pair of SE535's has been floating around, although many seem to say they are not competitive no more. Main attraction is the fit and comfort of those as I love my SE215's.

Some interesting news out of Moondrop. They are planning a version of their budget Spaceship to be a competitor to the newer Ety 2 series.

Hello SGS, and the rest of the guys. :)

I bought IE800, and am looking for a small affordable DAC/Amp for it. Something between 100-200 Euros/Dollars. I was looking at Dragonfly Red/Black and new iFi Hip Dac. I am currently driving them with iPhone with a dongle, but I find them slightly anemic this way.

While you are looking , check out the HiBy R3 Pro. Its in your price range and has recently been updated, hence the "Pro" This is a portable DAP and fits easily in your pocket. I really like the sound of my R3 and its not even the "Pro" model. Check it out.

If wanting to keep it portable and continue using your iPhone, I’d recommend the Shanling UP4. It’s a bluetooth receiver, so you’ll gain portability by not being directly connected to your iPhone. The UP4 has a dual dac mode (whether using single ended or balanced) which seems to boost the current available, giving dynamic drivers iems more oomph/slam ime and this seems what you are looking for.

The dragonfly dacs aren’t going to give you anymore slam; just different flavor if that makes sense, plus more hassle with the CCK and other cabling.

I have no experience with the iFi product.

Thanks for the idea. I am not after harder bass (Im not a basshead), but more energy in mids and treble.

Mr.Nick218, just in case you have never seen a HiBy R3. Here is one. The Pro looks and is the same size. It has a 2.5 balanced input as well as the standard 3.5 single ended. The IEMs are iBasso iT01S

@Claud - Think this is now something like four different threads where you've hyped the HyBy DAPs. Sure you're not working for them? ;)

Is there a reliable comparison between the UP4 and BTR5 yet? Because of the SoC paradigm, I imagine there's not much of a difference, aside from ergonomic and firmware differences.

Don't I wish I was. Then I would not have to pay for my R6 Pro that is incoming this week. Sorry, I just think the R3 is a good inexpensive DAP. It sounds good too. The best thing about it is its size. Its a real portable.

ClieOS at HF is the only one I can recall. If I recall correctly, the BTR5 in balanced is his preference.

Is there such a thing of a better DD IEM than the JVCs when it comes to refinement?

This is a question I’ve been pondering myself lately. I haven’t had opportunity to hear as many of the newer single dynamic drivers as I’d like, for instance: AK T8/T9 variants, Beyer Xelento, FAudio variants, Acoustune variants, etc. All these are unknown to me.

I've heard good things about the Acoustune 1695ti.
