Order the $35 firmware upgrade from Schiit and one gets to play A1/GS back and forth.

Why an A1? Just because of price?

He briefly explained why to pursue A1-sounding in Starlett thread I remember.

Looking for a more incisive sound for Verite/Starlett. BF2 is excellent but a little too pancake syrupy/buttery gooey for already warmish Verite. Yggdrasil is also the only Schiit DAC I haven't owned/heard much, so curiosity as a bonus.

God damn. People won't leave you alone with your CDs. Well if you don't find one in a reasonable amount of time or just want to audition it, you can borrow my A1 (not gs).

Gungnir MB A2 is incisive. Have you listened to it? Quite a departure from A1’s tonality.

FYI these are the known variations, I can edit/adjust if mistakes:

    Yggdrasil A1 (OG)
Yggdrasil A2 (new firmware, new analog boards)
Yggdrasil GS (A1 analog boards with A2 firmware)
Yggdrasil A2 (with A1 firmware) this is an interesting unknown.

The firmware (0 glitch fix and dither change) update to ModiMB is significant. I have both chips and swap back sometimes.

Unison is also important to get the most out of it, or, all angles out of it. Frankly gen5 and down is useless.

Hope this simplifies your decisions, plan of attack lol. Now back to watching Jurassic Park 'cause your analysis.

This would be awesomely interesting, but does anyone know if it works at all? I have both A1 and A2 firmware chips now but haven't taken the path to upgrade to A2 analogue boards.
