I know that I mentioned that Craig will be hanging it up soon, but that he still has a stash of those Studio Junior transformers that he needs to make into something before he rides off in to the sunset:

I don't need any more Eddie Current amps, but I may just have to order one of these because I love the looks.

Now THIS is slow-clap worthy...nobody has been able to buy a Balancing Act for a long time.

I understand this has some newer transformers with better bass than older amps in this chassis style?

Power supply is much smaller than the BA and you can't accidentally over-cook your output tubes?

Awesome. If I hadn't bought a used Balancing Act again recently...

My guess is a bit more than the SJ, but not a whole lot more. The chassis is a PIA. Maybe I will ask for a glossy version of it. The glossy finish, going back to the Moth days, were never perfect. People bitched, so he got rid of it.

@purr1n , My understanding from Craig is that to get the 2A3 option he might use an Aficionado case.

    Studio A ?

Yeah. I would assume he didn't want to offer options.

$3200 intro. I expect $3400-$3600 after first run.

^That's a ridiculously good price for such a boutique, small run item. Who knows how many will be made. If someone is interested and they can do it, they should.

Yes. OPT has taps to drive 4-ohm speakers, but they need to be efficient. Use cases are high-efficiency speakers that dip down low in some spots or 4-ohm rated woofers, e.g. JBL E155-4, etc.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this basically a Balancing Act, a Studio Jr, some hybrid Frankenstein's Monster of the two, or just something different?

From the Eddie Current site: "Responding to the interest in the Studio Jr, we have formed a pre-order list for a special Studio B headphone amplifier using the remaining inventory, which will be a very limited run. Once production is confirmed, the order will require a deposit with the expected fulfillment date announced."

From talking with Craig, the amp is 300B Studio Jr internals placed into a Balancing Act Chassis. I asked about a 2A3 version, he said I could get the 2A3 Studio Jr internals in an Aficionado Chassis. (Studio A ?) It sounds like the number of these will be very, very low.

Since this has speaker taps, does it need to always see a (4-ohm?) speaker load (or a resistor) to keep from messing up the transformers? As (I think) is generally true with tubed speaker amps. Forgive me if I'm off-base here....

There's generally no need for load. The only possible issue is maybe playing music and cranking the amp into clipping while there is no load.

Do you know what the input impedance would be?

100k, unless you change out the pot yourself.

Basically Studio Junior in larger chassis.

Sorry, do you mean, "There's generally *no* need for a load"? Thanks.

Yeah. Fixed. Doing 1000 things at once thing morning. Wake up kids, hit Clash of Clans, talk to wife, coffee, plan for planting of dragonfruit cutting, measure HD700, measure Vali, synthesize thoughts for article where I want to take on Sean Olive's Harmon curve, Craig bitching at me for wanting a mirror finish, prepare for 100F day, etc.
