If "Dats wha drives da cah", then why are you here then? Just stick with DMS and Zeos then no need for SBAF.

You live in SoCal (dunno, because some of your IPs show you are coming from proxies in the EU). Do you know how many SBAF members around the world envy the accessibly to gear in SoCal because of how easy it is to make friends and share gear? There's an entire community here with lots of small meets, lunches, gear-swapping, etc.

I think you are are bad fit. Noted in logs that you have already been banned once before. At this point, you are only thread crapping. You aren't contributing and you aren't asking good questions either. As I have already stated, the HD560 is on order and there will be an upcoming review.

Losing my goddamned mind reading this! Hilarious. How often does this happen? I mean, I don't run an audio forum, but jesus even if I did I think my head would explode if I picked up the phone and some dude was like "HEY SO UH ZEOS LOVES THE SENDY AIVA WHADDYA THINK!!!?"

People manage to find my number. Enough people had my phone number, so over time more and more people get it. It's more like "I watched Zeos video and now my head is spinning, WTF is wrong with that guy - Marv can you give me to me straight?" or "What you do think about that Currawong guy?"

It just gives me a fricking headache with all these boob-toobers today with shit content that lasts for 30 minutes because that's what Google needs to put your POS video at the top of the list. I don't know how people today get their info from YouTube. I thumbs down 90% of videos I watch to get information because the content is shit or they take 10 minutes to finally take the 15 seconds to tell me what I need to know. It's a bitching finding that 15 seconds in a 28 minute video.

    I always start out:
    • Why are you watching YouTubers and then asking me?
    • What you do have now and what do you like about it and what you do not like and would like to be improved?
Seriously, I should make a fricking 45 minute YouTube video where I talk about random stuff, random thoughts, whatever came to my mind, just fricking ramble on about bullshit. It would probably be better than anything from Zeos or DMZ.

I'm starting a vlog called OGBB - old grumpy brown baldy. I'll fall asleep sometimes and yell at clouds but I promise it'll be entertaining.

Every time one of my friends sends me a YT video about audio anything I cringe. I try to let them down easy but they DO NOT GET IT. If I go to the same people with something I think they should know about they ask if there's a YT video or better yet "a review".

If I link them useful info they can read with baseline and references to even stuff they know, which is perfectly useful and would actually answer their questions... forget it..

People don't want to read and use their own brains. TELL ME PLEASE TELL ME FOR ME

And we wonder why marketing is so intrusive and pervasive now and product / idea advancement has slowed significantly. Why make good stuff if I can spend half the money to tell people "it's good" and they buy it either way. Nothing against marketers - who doesn't want to get paid after all.

Very annoyed about this not just with audio products, but most products in general, especially a lot of stuff I'm into where it's a lot more nuanced, technical, etc. and it really does come down to product dev, material dev, secret sauce execution stuff, etc etc. Also builds up the chore of having to find legit info, wade through more crap to find what I want, etc... I'll still get there eventually, it just takes more time, effort, and sometimes money now, which is an annoyance at best for me.

Except when the videos are about: mixing cement, replacing front lights in my truck, or how to install new electrical panel. Those are OK.
Although, I am bit of a contrarian, when I started with headphones hobby I enjoyed Zeos a bit but I was lucky. In one of the first videos he pointed at HD600 and HE500 at his desk and said: get one of those, which I did. So I have as soft spot for him in my heart.

As crazy as it sounds, people actually don't like to have choices, they wanted to be fed, "TELL ME WHAT'S THE BEST????".

I prefer having more info available and spending some time separating the wheat from the chaff to not having information available at all, as in the bad old days before the interwebz. Before most of you were born, remember kids?

Well, when I get an A7C, I was thinking I'd start a YT channel to crap on audio gears, and specifically just for crapping on audio gears.

Then again, I realized I don't have 100 hours a week to spend on that.

Seriously, I do watch some YT videos of gears, and I do come away more confused. People on YT media don't really preface with a "I like X headphone and I think it is neutral" just for a point of comparison or something. Nope. It's basically: this looks purdy, it sounds like this to me, and I recommend/don't recommend it.

As has been said ad nauseam in this thread: who are these Youtube vloggers? Why do I have to care about what they want to say? Do they know anyone at Head-fi? ASR? SBAF? Reddit? No? Actually, who the hells knows anyone at reddit??

They are influencers... on what? If they have such great influence, why can't they tell Sennheiser to stahp making shit headphones and actually make an HD850 already? I know they are capable of that. They just don't seem to give a damn.

Heck, if making a few Youtube videos will give me the power to influence Sennheiser, Fostex, etc... manufacturers to get off their arse and make good headphones, I would gladly do that. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Most manufacturers nowadays just seem to want to make a product just because the audiophile market is gullible and willing to pay a large sum.

I hate that this is the format, even with tutorials. I can figure most things out, so if I get stuck, I'm looking for a few pieces of specific info. I can read a hell of a lot faster than I can watch. Several minutes of skipping around, watching a minute or two of bullshit at a time till you're through it all AND STILL COMING UP EMPTY. WTF?! I coulda read 3 whole, big-ass articles in that time and learned 10x as much. 1000's of words!

It's terribly inefficient. But for some reason people seem to consider reading more effortful. I'll never understand that. It's absurdly faster when it comes to getting information. The ancient Chinese had this shit figured out when they came up with a system of writing that could pack gobs of info on one scroll, while others were trying to go letter by letter. But even letter by letter gives you more than moving pictures. I can think multiple sentences in the time it takes to say one. Why is the latter the norm? Argh.

You've got it backwards. They don't influence companies. They are influencers FOR those companies. Their job is to influence US, not Sennheiser. Flip that around, get cut off. Voted off the island.

I'll admit that I watch an occasional audio review on YouTube, but I never heard of DMS. He has a rather low number of YouTube subscribers compared to some other audio gear vloggers, and not as popular or influential as the OP claims.

You’re absolutely right in this sense.

Also rereading my own post I came in more hot, angry, and whiny than intended and I maybe would have given myself a dislike if that’s such a thing... probably b/c I had just waded through 2 hours of random bs and irrelevant info trying to look something else up. Anyways, apologies to all for noise crap posting. Guess there’s always going to be something somewhere to complain about.

Back to the topic at hand - I won’t watch most YouTube vlogs or the like for audio (and some other hobbies) but I feel like it’s only bc most feel like glorified ads (Ironically often with more unskippable ads in front). They also don’t tell a lot of nuance things like “will this headphone work with the Klingon ridge on my head”, etc...

I wonder if a select group of trusted shaft staff, members, etc who don’t mind being on camera making a sbaf blog where we just speak candidly like we often do would help. None to minimal monetization to hopefully make it feel less hokey.
