    Amir: 'I don't want to spend "my own" money or time reviewing this product properly'

    Also Amir: 'Please donate/support us on Patreon so we can provide you with these product reviews'

    Checks out, Amir doesn't want to spend his own money but he's okay with using patreon money. Why does he need Patreon if he's such a successful businessman is an entirely different question.

    There's different kinds of smart. @purr1n you're the kind of smart that leaves us better off for having you run this show. I am not sure one can say the same for Amir.

    Haha, think it's more to do with what has been said before about Amir having greater business acumen and being able to put together a cash cow out of pink slime (as opposed to others who're in this hobby cuz audio gear can be fun, sometimes almost as much as listening to music).

    Also "They are engineering tests manufacturers should be running but aren't".

    Testing how devices behave under conditions well outside their actual operating windows isn't really engineering, either. I look forward to ASR's outrage on testing passenger elevators and discovering they will neither accommodate nor elevate brontosaurs.

    Yup. Money and adulation are not the only measures.

    Head-fi is mostly noobs and shills spinning around in circles like small dogs. Sound science is “everything sounds the same because we’re deaf.” Otherwise it’s flavor of the month bullshit.

    Hydrogen Audio: “we don’t belief in human perception because we’re autistic”

    Gearslutz is half retards and shills but the deaf guys are actually deaf and not just inattentive. They don’t confine objectivists to the short bus like head fi does.

    ASR is Jonestown of audio forums. All the deaf, retards, objectivists, and old farts drank the Kool-Aid

    See, one of the things I enjoy about this forum is that the ratio of actual substance to pablum is pretty high, at least compared to something like head-fi. I was scrolling through some headphone impressions on head-fi, and I swear I had to click through about twenty pages to find a substantive write-up on a headphone. SBAF has its share of tomfoolery, but in my experience its much easier to actually find something useful when you're deciding on whether to make a purchase.

    And here it's rare to get interrogated for the mere reason of not likely the same toy that others are liking.
    And when it happens, it's usually to help you solve some underlying problem that maybe the reason you get to your inaccurate conclusion about the said product.

    Making money is easy. If I wanted to, I could have turned SBAF into another HF, sold out to the lowest common denominator, increased site visits by 20x. It would have been easy. Years ago before a culture was fully established and known, we had noobs up the wazoo signing up here. I all had to do was kick out all the meanies who helped make the place it is today.

    However, there was no way I could have lived with myself if I did these things. I made choices in life that I can live and die with. It's easy to make money when you are that one kid in kindergarten that has no compunction about stealing other kids toys. That kid with the sociopathic tendencies, but is smart enough to know how to get away with it. People like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg are like this. (To be clear, I'm not anti high-tech, nor am I saying that all high-tech leaders are like this).

    Even today, Jude fears SBAF so much that he won't even allow mention of SBAF on HF. He thinks I will steal all the business and all the forum members from him. The problem is that he thinks I'm like him. I'm not.

    I've always found that funny, talk about SBAF being taboo on HF, considering other fora don't seem to get the same treatment as far as I'm aware. I'm sure the postcards etc had something to do with that but at the same time there's a definite sense of CS/SBAF being perfectly willing to call sponsors doodoofaces upfront when they push bad product*

    But yeah it's the same deal with hyperwealthy people IMO— earning money for a comfortable living with minimal effort is absolutely grand, I'd do the same if I could given what skills I have, but there's a point where it just feels like you have more than you could ever feasibly want or could possibly be healthy. I'm not sure certain other ostensibly science-first forum leaders see that there's a distinction to be made.

    The postcards came about after the silent bans, the over moderating, the censoring, and especially after we found out how sensitive Jude was. I've heard many a vendor describe to me Jude having hourlong rants and tirades about me, and then later @zerodeefex. We were wicked in the sense that we knew how to push his buttons.

    I don't think we called sponsors doodooheads as much as we called gear poopy. I don't think we've ever stooped to calling or implying audio designers were incompetent engineers like Amir when gear didn't hit 110db SINAD or KG when SET toob amps didn't have regulated power supplies. At most, it's more like "WTF is this Sony?", "WTF is this Sennheiser?", or "Meridian was clueless with the Exploder Zout" and only within reason.

    I think there was one event that may have pushed Jude over the edge.

    Misspoke, attention was divided debating if I should post in another thread, cough. Owning up to the mistake of saying you guys pooped on manufacturers rather than on bad gear that basically deserved it.

    We did poop on John Stuart for MQA.

    Qobuz, being French, understood that MQA was lossy proprietary bullshit money grab, so they decided to stream hires instead.

    Qobuz is one of the only places selling mainstream music. If their payout system works like Sororityfy, it’s still not worth paying for because your money does not go to the artists you listen to or to paying off their advance unlike buying a physical release. Nobody should pay for Sororityfy. The 10 dollars does not go to the artists you listen to. It goes to trap and Taylor Swift. Because of inflation, you’re better off buying used CDs or even using YouTube.

    Let me get this straight...

    Reviews =/= Science
    Reviews = Engineering tests
    Therefore...
    Engineering =/= Science

    If then it seems reasonable to assume subjectivity =/= science based on ASR's historical thoughts on subjectivity.
    Then...
    Subjectivity = Engineering
    Subjectivity = Review

    Therefore, all subjective tests as reviews are just as valuable and reputable as engineering reviews.

    Or, if that was not a reasonable assumption, then subjectivity = science, and is thus more valuable and reputable than non-science, engineering based reviews.

    "Engineering: It's not science! Now get in this space shuttle and fly to the moon, you stupid astronaut."

    Reviews =/= Science?

    He should probably rename his forum to Audio Engineering Review to be self-consistent
