I was planning on making this my Christmas present, but have decided to hold off. I want to give them time to work out kinks and to wait for a larger slate of games to be released.

I don't know if I can hold out long enough to wait for a slim version (this thing is a behemoth), but we'll see how it goes.

The current hardware also doesn't support Dolby Vision for movie playback which is a huge bummer. It means I have to keep my dedicated 4k player rather than using the PS5 as an all-in-one.

Maybe future versions will fix that.

It's hard, though...I got my PS4 at launch and haven't really regretted it other than a bit of envy seeing games look so much nicer on the PS4 Pro.

I would like the Demon Souls remake and Bloodborne on PC please. I recently got tired of replaying DS3 to death and started playing Sekiro when the GOTY edition went on sale at steam. It's not as addictive as Dark Souls and there's no online play as far as I can tell, but it will bandage the DS shaped hole in my heart for a while. Fingers crossed for winter 20-21 release of Eden Ring, chuckle sigh teardrop.

Just read up on the XSX and PS5 UHD Blu Ray capabilities... Man I'm glad I didn't hold out. I was expecting next generation devices to support at least all the current standard formats.

These consoles feel rushed during a pandemic. It’s going to be worse than usual at launch. With that said, there are so many standards now it’s confusing. I don’t own a 4K tv yet but every time I hear about the different types of HDR it seems ridiculous.

I’ve had to replace my PS4 Blu-ray drive twice already so I’ve decided never to use my console for movies again.

Come to think of it, this makes sense. It's so tempting to to throw money at Sony, but I have no regrets about waiting a bit and getting a PS4 Pro.

    First world's problems :)

Just HDR and Dolby Vision, really.

HDR10 has been updated and is now on HDR10+, but it's simply a newer version of the same thing. Most devices don't support this yet and the difference between 10 and 10+ is tiny.

Bad luck on your PS4. My PS3 blu-ray player is still going strong and the launch PS4 never had any issues.

One question re PS5: USB audio works with standalone DACs, right?

Not UAC2. Only UAC1 DACs according to people on reset era. This is f'ing embarrassing in 2020.

Yeah it is embarrassing, especially if they took optical out. That’s how I have it connected to my 2 channel setup. Now I don’t know how I’ll be connecting.

Get a HDMI to SDPIF converter, which splits the audio into coax/toslink and the video into another HDMI cable. It's annoying, but that is to be expected since toslink is slowly being removed from gaming consoles. That's what I did on my end when hooking up my PS4 Slim to my computer monitor and the audio to my Airist RDAC.

Most tvs have spdif out, that's how I do it. I've tested a bunch of splitters and other devices but best sound is right out of tv spdif into dac.

Been hyped for several years about it. Need a new computer rig, though because I want to run it with all the eye-candy.

I suspect this might be the only game I play for quite a while. The "OG Deus Ex but open world" vibes are strong and this actually looks like a use of raytracing that is worthwhile.

I've been super hyped about this since I saw this video 7 years ago:

I'm going to become a recluse when I finally get to play it.

Takes me back to the days when my friends and I played the table top versions of this and Shadowrun, Vampire the Masquerade, etc. Good times

I'm going to take many days off. So if you don't see me here, CP2077 is the one to blame :D

Just picked up the Arkane studios Dishonored bundle on Steam. My buddy tells me it's amazing so I figured why not? 6 games (including Prey, which also looks great) for $22. Should hold me off until cyberpunk lol

Some of the best games of the decade, hugely underrated, true masterpieces.
Masterful worldbuilding and extraordinary leveldesign. These games settle the "are games art" debate imho.
