Anyhow, I guess now a days $100K for a vehicle is normal?

    Found this interesting too:

    https://www.forbes.com/wheels/news/what-your-car-might-say-about-how-you-vote/

    Top Dem vehicle: Honda Civic.
Top Liberal vehicle: Tesla Model 3.
    Top Rep vehicle: Ram 2500/3500.
    Top Conservative vehicle: Ford F-250/350.

I also underestimated the price of an all out Honda Civic:
    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a33902764/2021-honda-civic-type-r-limited-edition-priced/

EDIT: As far as what I would like. f**k the Honda Civic. f**k the Tesla. f**k the Ford F-250. This is a car:

Those guys aren't too far from me (and a few others, and @purr1n ). So, after Covid we have a meetup, blow shit up, and listen to great audio gear? 'Murica, or whatever.

    Few updates:

Top Dem/Liberal Vehicle: Kia Rio or Kia Soul due to lack of monies. (Most of my Liberal/Left-Wing friends drive either an older Kia Rio or a Hyundai since they are too broke from low-paying jobs and student loans)

Top Rich Liberal vehicle: Lexus depending on model

The Rep/Conservative picks are dead on. At my local Cigar Shop on the weekend half the vehicles are trucks (mostly 1500/F-150 based stuff) with tons of the usual NRA/Vote Trump or Die/Back the Blue bumper stickers. I dunno why but most of the trucks are white.

that's a legit reason. I miss my real Subaru wagon when they actually still made wagons. Road trip with a new hot, smart, interesting girlfriend across the country in that thing is one of my best memories.

I was going to post a profile post on this some time ago, but in my city it seems like 90% of the time I see someone driving like a complete idiot, its someone between 25-35 driving a beat up Kia. And I'm a pretty chill driver. Its so bad that every time i see a Kia I instinctively go into ultra caution mode. So the real question is, why can't millennial liberals learn how to drive?

The game is over for those "rational" conservative types without guns. Welcome to the USA, United States of Amazon.com, a private company of course.

Just look at the requirements of picking up a license. Lets be honest, it isn't hard to pass that test (at least in FL).

Dude. Don't get me started on BMW drivers.

In California I have to watch out for the random BMW that will cut me off at an average 80-90 mph in the I-5 and/or the I-405.

EDIT: Disclosure. My brother is a BMW fanboy and he lives in Houston, Tx.

What are people's thoughts on severance pay?

I just survived another expected round of layoffs at my place today (anything could change of course). About to hit nine years, so that means nine paychecks for severance. I already accepted the fact since day one at any job that they don't need to keep my ass forever. At the same time, I'm not fully saying no to any money.

Jobs of course will try anyway to not make you take severance, including finding job coaches for new stuff. I never thought about it to be honest, but the fact is my luck will run out one day and I better be prepared.

I'm at the amount of years and money at this point that if I get hit with severance and I can't find anything else with this place (if you are getting hit with a laid off notice and you find a job someplace else within this company, they pay for your relo 100%), I'll take good part year worth of salary to say bye bye.

So are they offering you severance, 9 months I assume? Whether you take it or not now is the time to have a plan if the company is shrinking (sounds like it). Any competitors hiring right now?

That’s a good severance payout. The most I’ve received was for three months but I lucked out in that contracted me for when it almost ran out. This is a hard choice to make as you know the market for your job better than I do.

You can also move to North Corpus and go sand dune jumping with Marv. ;)

@crenca + @Phantaminum Banking normally severance pay is for every year you work it is one paycheck. This means I would get nine paychecks for severance if something happens to me. Since I normally get two paychecks per month, that's 4.5 months of pay.

Competitors are hiring but as I recently discovered, they are low-balling bad. This is due to FL is a cheap labor market with unlimited amount of people moving in and applying. Thankfully my employer attempts to keep as many people as much as possible if they are willing to apply for new roles. I don't mind this happens to me because I can land something outside of FL and coporate pays for my relo 100%.

I need the economy to get better before employers are willing to pay more ATM. I hate pay cuts, but sometimes that might be the last resort for me....

That is such an awesome truck!! I’ll have to make a list
    • not oversized for no reason but dick extension
    • Large windows
    • No huge thick body
    • And the big one—-STICK SHIFT!!
I always wondered if anyone made a pickup with a stick. Very cool. I bet it’s fun as hell to shift. Long throw?

I think it’s funny to see “manly” cars/trucks which are designed and bought in large part to look bad ass but the driver can’t use a damn stick. Big bad farmer are ya? But can’t even use a stick shift. Only other truck I’ve seen with a stick was an old diesel pick up. Can’t remember which brand.

I bet they don’t make those in manual anymore though.

@YMO, I don't know much about banking/finance but I wonder if a shift into another related sector, for example (just to pull something out of thin air) retirement/investment advising, might be a way for you to climb the ladder rather than play footsies with a company that is shifting your job/role so that they can keep from promoting/giving raises and the like.

Issue is retirement/investment advising doesn't pay well. We those jobs available all the time. Also, that stuff is pretty boring to me. I prefer doing stuff like Collections since that was once my bread/butter (the whole world of Collections is more complex than people think).

White reflects heat better than other colors.

As for the job, since you're already in finance, maybe get over to underwriting, especially for mortgages. Huge shortage for experienced mortgage underwriters currently! The company I work for is looking to hire 300 right now.

Not licensed. Also I have a feeling once the demand dies down your employer is going to start laying off those folks. I don't trust anything Retail side of Banking ATM.
