FS: Airpods Max - Space Gray - Like New

Didn't want to post here because honestly I was disappointed with the sound quality and more "mainstream" bassy tuning that can't be fixed with headphone accomodations. But maybe one of you guys would be interested in it. These are like new, only tried for less than an hour. Accidentally sliced the box with a knife when opening it, so unfortunately can't return or I would've returned these

Price is $500 shipped for friends/contributors (PayPal fees add 3%). Even though I posted on head-fi first, you guys get preference. But again, I would actually not recommend buying these and would just pick up airpods pros if you want something bluetooth. Airpods pros has more natural-sounding noise cancelling, transparency mode, and a much more balanced/natural tuning than this airpods max.

This is probably one of the worst classifieds ever XD. But I want to be good and honest to you guys about how I feel about them. Maybe you will feel differently? People on youtube seem to like them

 

I like my pair quite a bit. Been meaning to put some impressions together, actually. But they certainly seem to aim for a more U-shaped presentation, a bit recessed in the middle. Fairly spacious sound, firm bass without too much over-emphasis. Emphasis in the highs but not strident or painful (unlike my DT990s). Very comfortable. Someone will probably be happy with them if they know what they're getting into. GLWS.

 

Thank you for the contrasting impressions. I think I was being a little too unfair in my listing haha, and I'm glad the tonality works for you. I think for me mids are super important, so the mid-suckout may be why I don't like them so much. Highs are definitely not strident or painful like you say, and soundstage is pretty good. They are indeed comfortable, especially the top headband which is very airy and comfortable.

It may be unfair, but my reference sound is what I get from utopia and 3F-- going from that to the airpods max, the airpods max subbass is just too much for me. I guess maybe that contrast is what's not meshing with me, and it takes brain burn-in I'd rather not have. Yep, if you know what you're getting into you may be pretty happy with them. Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to providing a contrasting point of view to these.
