Giving a bump for a good mate and good DAC. Hard to beat at this price.

 

Out of curiosity why are 90% of US sales CONUS only?

 

Shipping rates outside the continent are often prohibitive.
Risk of loss or damages is too high. Shipping times also very slow and it falls into limbo.
Incompatible voltages.
Scammers. So many scammers.

 

Speaking for myself - it's the increased risk, insurance, custom fees that gives me pause.

 

Because 95% of the sales are in CONUS and it's a hassle to send to other continents. More documents to fill, shipping rates, delays in shipping and a lot more risks if something goes wrong and, as such, bigger chance that you'll have a disappointed buyer and it's demanding to fix, or try to fix, things that are not even without your country, not to mention continent.

Another aspect is the fact that a lot of gear is 110v and not 230v or both.

 

My Crimson took over a month to get here and I pad almost 100 dollars for the shipping. I'd never want that again for such an item.

I've shipped stuff to the US and also not too many months ago to Canada and would do it again despite all those damn forms to fill everytime but given the EU prices I doubt there's a lot to offer, except maybe german vintage headphones or tubes or anything.

And yes, scammers are everywhere, I basically stopped offering paypal on german kleinanzeigen and offer IBAN or local pickup with function test etc. only. Takes longer to sell but the buyers are more serious.

Shipping from the US is actually quite fast from Schiit or Adorama. If I order on Monday and it gets shipped with Fedex I have it on Thursday here in Germany and Fedex does all the custom stuff. With DHL it takes a lot longer. So despite the custom fees and taxation I sometimes still order from the US (especially kickass gear like PI2AES) if it's sent fast.

HOWEVER

no clue about the quotes for private persons and I bet the whole custom form filling and taxing etc can be very annoying, and the shipment seems to be different for smaller businesses or persons. No idea.
