Looks like @elwappo99 had to reschedule which means Im next in west for GenG+P. TY @Gazny . Ill try stock and other recommended configurations. I have the loweliest rig and least experience on the tour so I hope my impressions arent too useless. Ill take any questions during my time.

 

I enjoyed GenP/G most often on my Magni Modi stack. Even with others pieces of gear it remained a GenG to my ears. Can't wait to read your impressions @Philimon

By the way, ESX900 arrived today. Love the ebony cups. Handling this trickster is more unique experience than I assumed.

 

I'd asked on discord but I think it got lost with all the activity. If possible I'd like to be added to the tour for G&P West, just after @Phantaminum makes sense I think since we could meet for the handoff.

If not, well I'm on the list for the second batch of GenG any way!

I have instructed @Azimuth to hold the loaners until I can get an extended tuning kit sent his way. Same for you @elwappo99. shouldn't be more than a few extra days.

I'd like to recall all of the Gen loaners (aside from GenP solo loaner).

I've realized having one set tour with an extended tuning kit is just a recipe for a game of 'telephone' being played with the voicing, which leads to disjointed meandering impressions and general subjective noise...

So, we're going to double up on GenG loaners (two pairs of GenG on the same tour together) and keep GenP separate since it's clear the use case is completely different and most participants are unlikely to have gear that will mesh with both. One GenG will have my stock config as they all shipped initially (tuning A), and the other will have a revised tuning (B). There will be no tweaks allowed to either set for tour participants - they must stay as-is so we can set an actual baseline. Anyone who decides to purchase a set outside the loaner can pick between tuning A or B for me to ship with, and will also get the extended tuning kit to tweak to taste if desired.

I apologize for the sense of wasted time and effort for those who have listened so far. I am especially sorry to @purr1n since you put a lot of your free time into the preliminary measurements. I hope you will consider revisiting at a later time. I will reimburse your shipping cost plus some extra for your time via SBAF donation. Feel free to keep the GenP for evaluation as-is.

Thankfully those who were previously on the roster have still had a chance to hear tuning A. Hopefully this minor nuisance makes things much smoother on the recipient's end. Beta testing is hard, but I feel this is for the best in terms of having clear and consistent impressions as well as a hassle-free audition experience with a feel for the range of tuning options possible.

 

Checking in for the east tour. @Azimuth do you still have them? Evan's last announcement was posted 6 days ago, so it's possible that the second pair of Gen G is en route to your place. But just want to confirm.

@E_Schaaf @tommytakis Can you guys update the OP to incorporate the recent announcement above? As is, it's a little confusing to me to track which pair is in whose house.
