Loaner Jotunheim 2

Dildo jokes aside (ass-ide?), the amp definitely has a smell. I'm picking up what seems like mild smoker masked with some perfume. I'll let it air out, don't think spraying with Febreeze is a great idea for electronics.

 

Can I rate the entire dildo exchange set of posts epic? It’s really not nice to make an old guy wet himself….

Received the Jot 2 Today.
There is a smell to it. Left nostril stopped working 10 mins afterwards.

 

Sent the Jot 2 to @nedifer . He has the tracking in a PM.

 

Sorry for the delay in updating. My wife has been out of town visiting her mother on the East coast for the first time in nearly 2 years so the household has been all mine to keep running.

No lingering odor noted. I have really enjoyed being able to try it. I find it does some things very well, some not as well. But what it does well is very nice indeed. I will write up soon and will send it on to @tommytakis as soon as I know where to send it.

I stole the manual for the J2. Do you guys need it?

You turn it on and plug your headphones into it and it makes music. It’s ok to leave it on all the time.

It's hard for me to tell and remember the 3 front switches even after owning one 6 months. Manual is easily accessible on the website, if anyone needs it.

Now that the smoke / burning smell has subsided - do we know if anything was burned, damaged, or whatever else that has resulted in the amp sounding different w/o opening the amp up to inspect for obvious physical damage?

 

For transparency: Jot 2 loaner is coming to me next. @tommytakis did not receive any info from the 2 people before me to be able to ship to them.

Also - my loaner is going to take a while as I won't be able to listen much in the next 2 weeks - I have cleared this with @ChaChaRealSmooth - wasn't an issue given that I'm last in line.

 

Received earlier this week. Haven't inspected unit yet. Will listen over the next few weeks when I get the chance.

EDIT: Inspected. After sanitizing outside of unit with rubbing alcohol wipe and letting dry for 5 min, I am able to faintly smell something "smoky" coming from inside. It's the same kind of "smoky" you smell when some electronics are fried but the smell is too faint for me to say so reliably. I am not going to open the loaner / disassemble myself to look further but just peeking in from the vent holes, the 4 orange LEDs light up when the unit is on the and power indicator lights up as well. Of course, if something inside was fried, my impressions may not be representative of a fresh factory unit.

Plug in SE inputs, ping with Windows volume control, get sound on both high and low gain. Will listen later as stated above.

Oops - I handed the unit back to @ChaChaRealSmooth about 2 (maybe 3?) weeks ago as I was under the assumption that it should be returned to him (and not Marv). I will get the unit from @ChaChaRealSmooth and send it back ASAP. Am going to PM Marv for shipping info now.

EDIT: Tried to PM twice, get a 403 error both times, not sure if the message got through. Could @Marvey please PM me a shipping address, etc.
