One can also use RopieeeXL and then something like mConnect to use the Pi2AES as a uPnP renderer. mConnect + Qobuz doesn’t have the greatest user interface of course. For some reason, on the Qobuz app and when using mConnect, albums are out of order even when supposedly sorted by release date, etc.

Picoreplayer with LMS is also a great and free option for qbuzz and Tidal.

It needs some configuration to be great and beautiful. But than you have all you need for free

Are you talking about Volumio superstar? I just purchased a volumio primo on black friday, I have two systems I am listening to music on. It came with a one year subscription of the superstar.

I actually chose that unit because I really wanted something that can output usb, and the unit can feed any dac with a USB.

I am a bit over the top in my thought process and my infancy makes it more robust, been debating if I want to get a Kitsune SU-2, and I wanted to run the volumio upsampled feeding the SU2 and AES/I2S out to my dac. Sorry, I maybe a bit crazy and it definitely does seem like it's foolish to actually purchase another DDC. The thing is if I do not like the upsampling, I can jump down to 44.1 etc, and still get stellar performance with AES near that of that SU-6

Just something I have been contemplating, to leave different venues open. I do however like that the SU-6 does have multiple I2S options, but if I am going to invest 600 dollars on that, why not jump another 200 and get the DDC with more options.

I do own a schitt eitr, which I have been using for sometime, so that too is also an option. And again, this is for my second setup for listening, I can just incorporate the eitr into that and call it a day. My main system is going to use the Pi2AES.

Also had one more question on the pi2aes, what is that BNC connection used for? That's not a clock connection is it? Can I feed that to a master clock?

Sorry I forget what to do next. One of my Pi2AES stoped responding even after a hard reboot. so I downloaded a fresh latest version of Moode, erased the card, flashed it, it's in the Pi2AES. and its plugged into the ethernet. Im using Fing to scan for devices. I've tried to load every "generic" IP on my phone and none will load, none of them load Moode.

    What do I do now?

Did Fing find the Pi2AES/Moode device? If it did, it will show the IP address which will be 4 numbers like 192.168.56.123. Then try to open that address in a web browser: http://192.168.56.123

If Fing doesn't find it, then Moode isn't connected to your local network and probably failed during startup. Try rebooting, and reflashing again if that doesn't work.

If moode loaded then moode.local should resolve it n anything but android. You can check to see if your wifi environs is showing a Moode AP after a minute or two to rule out any shenanigans with ethernet cables and the like but I suspect @Metro is on the right track here and that something happened with the imaging.

As cheap as microsd cards are if there’s any question about a card I’d just replace it and save yourself any headaches trying to troubleshoot. If you have a recent version of moode you can backup & restore settings now to make recovery easier but I haven’t tried this personally so can’t say how well it works.

Fing never finds anything called "Moode". I have to try loading a bunch of generic IP addresses Fing finds until one of them loads Moode. It's only after I name the Pi2AES that it shows up with that name in Fing.

    --------

Has anyone here successfully flashed a current version of Moode onto an SD card and had it picked up on their network when plugged into ethernet?

This is the second time this has happened to me when flashing the newest version of Moode. Last time I re flashed the card 3 times and finally someone here advised me that there may be a bug in the current version and to try flashing an older version if I had it, which I did because I never empty my downloads folder. And it worked fine the first time.

but that was like 4 months ago at least, I would think a bug like that would have been fixed by now.

Is Moode totally yesterday? When I was first setting up my Pi2AES a lot of people reported it sounding the best, better than Volumio anyways. So I've gone with it ever since. But now I see a lot of Ropee users.

Considering your hassles, Ropieee is worth trying, just be sure to get the XL version so it works beyond being a Roon endpoint. I’ve never tried the XL but if the base version is any indicator, it is easy to configure.

How does it sound compared to Moode?

On the Ropiee XL site it say this:

“next to Roon you can use DLNA, Airplay® and Spotify® technology to stream audio.”

    No mention of UPNP…

RopieeeXL has a tab dedicated to the XL features, and the first one is titled “uPnP/DLNA”. No issues on my end using with mConnect.

From what I can tell it sounds as good as MoOde. For me the big benefit is the reliability but I think using Roon instead of UPnP is the main reason for that change.

Presumably it would at least identify the device as a Rpi?

FWIW, in the past 3-6 months I've had nothing but problems with Bubbleupnp and Moode. Ready to throw the phone against the wall somedays. Meanwhile... Roon with Ropiee runs flawlessly at home. I think the only time those devices get rebooted is if the power goes out.

How I wish Roon would offer easy remote use so I could access my roon server at home while at work. (and yes, I know people have kludged there way to remote use with a VPN. But I'm not about to try that with my IT department.

Nope, just “generic” with an IP address.

hmm... for me, FING identifies the device name (if there is one), the IP address, the device manufacturer and usually the MAC address (although, for the Rpi it puts "Raspberry Pi" under both the manf and the MAC).
