As I said before moode (and most if not all distros now) put up a wireless access point for wifi only users to allow configuration, if you don’t see it in a minute or two after powering on then the operating system didn’t load. You can also use an hdmi display to troubleshoot but maybe we should start a separate raspberry pi support thread so as not to veer this one too far off course from the pi2aes.

This is a great idea and something @Michael Kelly has asked for. I'm not tech savvy at all and so just think of that black box as the Pi2AES but that's not very fair to Pi2 Design.

I'll make a "Raspberry Pi for Complete f'ing Morons" thread and post this question there soon. Then all these setup and networking questions can go there. And this thread can just be about the Pi2AES.

Make one your self or find a kind person to make it for you.

Hello. I received the pi2aes recently, however when I connect using a 5v power supply from ifi with Mod it turns on the raspberry but does not connect to the network. already tested with two power supply.

Hi. I know it says in the faq about i2s "Rev. P3.x supports PS Audio, but the channels are swapped", but I'm not sure what that means.

Which input do I need to select on my non-ps audio dac?

    Thx

thank you, but let it be explained better. when I connect two separate power supplies and remove the jumper everything works. however when I try to feed only with the ifi source, the network interface doesn't blink and raspberry doesn't get the ip address. tested with moode and roopie.

Q: What power supply do I need for the PI2AES?
A: The PI2AES is designed to operate with an input voltage 24V (+/- 10%). We sell a High Quality Meanwell 24V @ 1.67A supply specifically for the PI2AES.

I was trying with the Mod 5v indicated by Golden. the source is iFI 2.5a 5v. I don't have any 24v source at the moment for testing. thank you i will try to get one.

5V is not supported and You do it at Your own risk, You read that right?
If You have poor power supply, You might have fried the board already.

But that's weird if it doesn't work with the jumper. Maybe Michal added some changes to the new batch.

I Have found that i have the best sound using 5-6 Li Ion batteries connected to the 24V input.
Lasts for about 10h of listening.

First let me state that when you do this you void the warranty. Having said that you still need to keep the jumper in place because that 5 V pin is feeding both boards.

There is a directional circuit between our board and the pi that prevents voltage coming from the pi. So you cannot power both boards from the raspberry pi side

thanks. I tried it with the jumper inserted but it didn't work at all. a friend who received pi2aes tested it and his worked normally with only a 5v source. I don't have a 24v source at the moment to test. anyway understand that this mod is not advised. what happens is that the pi turns on but the network does not light and does not pick up ip. when I put two sources it turns on normally. I'm using it with a pi4.

Be aware that with a 5V supply you were going to have to deliver at least 2A to 3A. Which is mostly for the pi, as our board would only draw a couple hundred milliamps

So maybe I'm a bit grumpy after a really demanding end-of-year wrap-up at work, and a ridiculous drought in the Sierra that is getting in the way of the ski season, but I can't understand folks who don't have basic DIY skills trying to fiddle with different power supplies, I2S connections, ... on the Pi2AES while @Michael Kelly patiently holds their virtual hand. Folks, the Pi2AES is absurdly high value for what it is, the best digital audio source this side of multi-$K streamers — with the recommended Meanwell SMPS. If your religion objects to SMPS, get yourself a decent 24V LPS, like the Sbooster I use. Split 5V/24V power and other electrical contortions are for experts only. Geez....

    PI2AES Status update - 12/13/2021

We have currently shipped all orders that were placed up to 10/08. We are getting another 40 units tomorrow and that will cover orders placed up to 10/15. More units are due next week, but as things have been going I won't know for sure until a few days before.

Customers will still receive an email with the tracking number at the time of shipment. Shipping times for domestic orders should still be 2-4 days and international is 5-10 days, but the holidays might add a day or two.

PI2AES will remain in production, but with a price increase. The new price for the PI2AES will be $249. We will begin pre-orders after the current batch of PI2AES units have been shipped. Delivery will be February, but we'll need to get closer to more accurately estimate (which we have not been so good at lately).

Hi all, I read first 7 pages of this thread before deciding to simply post a question:

What is the best way to preserve direct, low latency connection from pc to Pi2AES? Ihear it has something to do with uPnP? A direct connection was mentioned somewhere but idk if I understood correctly. I am worried that any method of network streaming will increase the latency which could impact video and especially games. I currently use headphone rig for all computer audio (video, music, and games).
