    Thanks! I have no complaints with the PH16 so far! I’ve rolled Valvos in and I have a minor itch to mess with it but I’m going to hold off a bit until I can compare it to another pre. It’s weird not being able to have a frame of reference to compare it to but we have a nice group up here so I’m sure I’ll be able to bring it to a meet to compare against something better eventually.

    Just snagged this bad boy from a local seller:

    [IMG]

    Yamaha PX-3 linear tracker. Seller was the original owner and this was his daily driver. He’s downsizing his collection of over a dozen linear tracking turntables. Fully automatic, 33 and 45 with quartz lock. Came with all the original accessories, including the original LOMC cart (retipped) built for Yamaha by Audio-Technica, and currently equipped with an AT33ML/occ with an Orsonic headshell.

    I popped on the 30th anniversary pressing of Dark Side of the Moon and the presence was so vivid. Channel separation and balance were excellent, and no groove distortion whatsoever, and this record is notorious for being hard to track and having noticeable IGD.

    Nice that there's one still alive in the wild. I had a PX-2 that I bought new in the early 80's. Should'a never sold it. Upgrade-itis can be lethal! |{

    Yeah, I didn't buy this on a whim, and it satisfies my desire for an upgraded table.

    This is a smart purchase. It’s hard to beat some of these direct-drive tables of yore. I love the rock-solid speed and image stability of DD tables, and many of these tables were built like tanks. As long as it’s serviced periodically, you’ll be spinning records for years to come.

    I had a linear-drive deck. IIRC, mine was branded Akai.

    Took a look inside, one day. Saw the amount of electronics, including a dozen or more ICs, the sensors, the mechanics, and thought, "Shiiiit!" No, it didn't last very many years. But it was fun while it did.

    I don’t normally listen to headphones on the turntable, but here are a couple shots of mine.

    @Vansen I love the feet on that table! Are they isolating?

    Those are the stock feet on the Marantz TT-15S1. I thought I would have isolation issues with this setup on a glass table top, but it’s not too bad. I still want to the isolate the TT and and motor a little more though.

    Seeing this thread makes me want to dust off our heavily moded Garrard 301 and post its photos here :)

    A while ago we moved to a (far) larger office and the idea is to build a setup based on our vintage products. AMR's digital and analog ends with our own spekaers and that turntable on top of that. Once that's done I'll drop in some photos in here.

    Picked up a Technics SP10 mk2 motor unit + psu recently and finally finished assembling all the pieces together. The plinth didn’t come with an armboard so I picked up a piece of bocote wood and 3d printed a mount for it.
