Need HD 800S help FAST!

Hi Guys. I'm about to publish a piece on the HD 800S and Sorrodje's Superdupont mod.

The HD 800S I have has significant distortion in the bass...quite a bit more than the regular HD 800.

I don't want to publish my results unless I can verify the pair I have are not faulty, so I need a second HD 800S to measure...fast!

IF ANYONE HERE IN THE US HAS A PAIR OF HD 800S AND IS WILLING TO SHIP IT TO ME FOR MEASUREMENTS, I WILL SEND A UPS LABLE. I NEED THIS TO HAPPEN TODAY IF POSSIBLE SO I CAN HAVE THEM OVERNIGHT FOR MEASUREMENT TOMORROW.

I wanted to publish my article tomorrow, but Saturday will work. I've got 5 days into this thing and need to put something worthy up on InnerFidelity. I'd hate to have to delay and put up some stupid poll or something.

FWIW, I did already try Headroom and TTVJ, but they're sold out...even their demo units.

I messaged my Sennheiser PR rep, he's in Germany, and can't help. He wants me not to publish.

 

Let me know if you already have something in the works velvetx, otherwise I can try to ship mine out today.

Wouldn't more samples technically help in diagnosing whether this is a QC issue?

 

Sure, but Sennheiser is pretty damned good about quality control so one that measures like the one I have would probably do it...but the story would be better if I could get two in a hurry.

Yeah, it is. Between TTVJ and HeadRoom they sold about 50 pair of 800S in less than a week. It's selling like hotcakes.

Should the 800Ss I get measure like the one I have here, Sennheiser's not going to like it.

HD800S SN #01070 is all boxed up here and will be on its way to Bozeman this afternoon.

 

My measurements show very little, if any, bass distortion for the SD mod. I'lll bundle up my measurements into a .pdf booklet sometime today and provide a link in your SD mod thread.

Can't wait for the HD800 S and superdupont writeup. I do hope the implemented resonator doesn't add a considerable amount of low-end distortion with all the units.
