We have an advice thread for questions like this. Don't muck up a thread about the new LCD-X with an inane question about your LCD-2.

@purr1n how would these compare to the RAD-0 we had a while back?

LCD-X is betterer. Audeze's been on a roll and seems to be pushing the envelope. RAD-0 is nice, but they seem to be a bit behind. Although LCD-X black metal cup is pedestrian and not sexy.

Sorry I was trying to figure out where mine likely roughly fall in all the posted graphs to decide if I want to try these out or not and the linked thread about the unicorns hadn't been posted in for years but understood.

I love it! I wish all their headphones were made out of black metal like this. It's sturdy and looks the best when worn IMO. Wood only looks good on your desk. Ever seen yourself in a mirror wearing woodies? Not sexy.

Do you know what the weight differences are between the metal rings on the LCD-X/XC and wooden rings? What about the weight reduction with the magnesium chassis (in the LCD-GX, LCD-4z, LCD-MX4).

I do like the custom colored looks of the RAD-0 rings though. But then again, the LCD-Rs do give them a run for the money.

This. I really like it. Not as sexy as Clear MG Pro or similar but I like it a lot.

The latest lcdx offering is my current favorite headphone. I love the tuning and resolve but it's the imaging that really impresses me. Typically I find planar imaging a solid tier behind strong dynamic offerings. While I wouldn't call it elite, it's imaging capabilities keep pace with some strong dynamics.

But, I only look at headphones when they are on my desk. Staring at myself in the mirror while wearing them really is not a part of the experience.

Can you mark posts like this NSFW next time? I don't need to see a 4800Hz burst trying to f**k a 1500Hz burst.

My OG (2015) LCD-X have been collecting dust for quite a while, though back in the day (especially when I had a Liquid Carbon amp) they were great for Metal music, weird timbre and all.

Looking forward to hear how these have improved, sometime.

Any subjective impressions against the lcd2c? Are those still worth it with these now out?

The LCD-X is significantly better. But I haven't done in depth comparisons of them in stock form. I can say the LCD-X is listenable to me in stock form but the LCD-2C is not. Definitely go for the LCD-X instead IMO.

The LCD2C now come with the same new pad revision as the LCDX, have you heard that one or are you talking about the old LCD2C?

I think if you can get one and you're not price sensitive, the LCDX (2021 version) may be the way to go. However, the X and 2C are very different, and it depends on what you're looking for.

The LCDX is more "reference" as mentioned in the above posts, and very technically adept. The only thing that kinda annoys me is that it's very sensitive (low impedance), so some of my amps don't play that nicely with the X.

I still enjoy the LCD2C, at least mine from several years ago, and it's worth considering that the 2C is less expensive and gives you that Audeze sound. It's not as technically agile, but has that more classic Audeze sound for kick back listening.

Note that although the 2C is less expensive, it comes with vegan pads and headband. The coating on these flake off over time--annoying enough that I bought leather replacement parts. For the LCDX, you can purchase the leather option right off the bat so you don't have to deal with pleather dandruff.

Been eyeing an LCD-X as well though i kind of want to try the XC if it's not too fucked sounding compared to the open version. That being said anyone messed with the Roon profiles for these?

More than the price difference, this is what annoys me most. I like the higher impedance for playing with amps.

Indeed. This isn't solely on Audeze but also HiFiMan with their 15-ohm impedance models. Many existing headamps just were not designed for such loads. The saving grace is their sensitivity. However, the lower impedance just makes things worse when users crank up the volume and boost up the bass. This leads not only to distortion but to ampli-fires.

Headphone amplifiers will have to understand how to design for speaker type loads moving forward.
