Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking for a few weeks but had trouble signing up here (the sigh-up confirmation e-mail was not coming through).
I thought I had read some earlier answer about DSD/DoP upthread, but the forum search engine does not permit searching on just 3-letter strings--and I got bored doing a Cmd-F on each page to find the reference after 10 pages did not stumble upon.

Fantastic! I will give it a try! Many thanks.

By the way, the Mercury really responds to a great power supply. And it is shocking how different different HDMI cables can sound for I2S.

Hmm, I am also shocked that you are hearing differences with the HDMI cable. Would you mind expanding on that a bit? From a measurement point of view we could find no difference in Jitter between multiple HDMI cables. Perhaps there is noise coming in due to sub-optimal grounding and/or shielding?

Wish I could explain it but the differences are quite distinct and repeatable. The two cables I compared were the Wireworld Chroma 7 and the Pangea HD23-PC Premium. The latter is clearly more forward and open.

Looks like the Pangea is $40-$50 on Amazon. So not a crazy price at all. I may need to get one to see if can measure anything.

My inexpensive 12V linear power supply arrived! I was hoping it would make the wave light less bright but if there’s a difference, it’s subtle. I currently really prefer the audial dac

Great you are here, @Superdad :)

Would the UltraCap not also be nice with Mercury? I've been pondering this forever, if there would be benefits to using an ultracapacitor ps when the power draw is very steady, vs just using lt3045. Do you have any thoughts on this? Am not an engineer, so hope the question is not too stupid o_O

I assume you're going to test the Mercury with the 12V LPS next? ;)

Wouldn't simply using the Micro SD card slot on the Mercury be a cheaper solution? I think it is possible to get 1TB micro sd cards now, and I assume one can rip cds straight from Volumio to the micro SD card - the response should be fast enough when browsing directories etc?

Lol it’s only for the mercury. I keep swapping the audial for the wave light to see if I’m imagining the brightness. Currently trying to put as many hours on the wavelight as I can, hoping burn in is real

There’s a left/right channel test track that comes with moode audio. I finally got around to trying it and left/right are reversed for me over i2s. My wave light dac has three settings for i2s pinout, rockna, ps audio and gustard.. all three have audio but left/right are reversed.. what do you guys think is my issue? I just swapped rca plugs as a temporary workaround

hmm oh if that is the case, I am sorry to say this but, the only option you might have is to create a custom cable or swap the RCA plug like what you have done. I have created a custom cable for RJ45 I2S, not LDVS but CMOS, interface, and this is what I am currently using to connect my Aqua DAC with Sonnet Streamer...

Was actually looking at the below connector myself when my old DAC, Holo Spring 2, didn't have an adjustable HDMI connection but ended up changing the DAC with adjustable I2S pinouts, Denafrips Terminator...

    https://www.amazon.com/Jienk-Solder...52262844&sprefix=hdmi+connect,aps,361&sr=8-10

Hope someone has a better solution than mine...

Thanks for trying to help, xtiva but I was able to figure out the issue.
My Rockna wavelight was not applying the i2s settings when I changed them. It would display the new setting I chose and remember it, but wouldn’t actually change. Unplugging the wavelight ac power cord and then re-applying the setting to ps audio got it working.

now I just have to figure out how to get dsd over pcm working in moode

Sorry, they sold out. There was a very limited number, but there is the 8GB version which is still available. Although we have sold more than half of those already!

Dang... I wanted the snazzy SBAF logo on the front.

Does the 8gb version come with the oversized text case, or have those been sold as well?
